This is an outrage. The Democrats should pay in the next election for this.

Really shows the clay feet of the Republicans, that they can be defeated by a fake filibuster.

Well, if there were 67 Republican senators, I am sure he would have gotten in. (sarcasm)

What a shame; he was a fine nominee.

The Rats are more less tolerant than any group of people I know, but have somehow been able to sway the voting public that it is the Republicans who are intolerant.

Well, the Republicans will really be able to get things done when we have all 100 seats in the Senate and all of the 435 seats in the house. Boy, oh boy, you'll see some really big changes then. Yes Sir, watch out! The conservative tidal wave is going to wash over Washington. Just you wait and see, Mister. Big changes.

I hope this event has a silver lining. I'm waiting to hear President Bush's comments, as well as comments from GOP Senators.

Wonder if the DEMs will publicly gloat.

I cannot believe that the White House would have approved this.

Republicans always back down in a fight. This is becoming a sickening trend. The White House let this poor guy twist in the wind with very little support. If the President wants to appoint someone to the federal bench, he should throw the full weight of the presidency behind the nomination. Otherwise, what's the point?

I kept my note all this time to ping you when Estrada was sworn in, but that is evidently not going to happen.

I am very unhappy with this turn of events, and obviously, I was wrong.

The Republican Senate blew this-----big time.

I would have done the same thing if gutless Republican Senators and President Bush had forsaken me.

I am not surprised by this. He made noises he was going to if it wasn't resolved soon.

It's only fair to Mr. Estrada to not permit him to twist in the wind like that. I think he made the right decision for himself.

It remains a shame that the DC Circuit is still short-staffed. I hope someone -- perhaps Maureen Mahoney -- is quickly nominated for the vacancy.

The republicans throw in the towel because they were too weak to demand that democrats do a 24/7 uninterrupted filibuster. They have only themselves to blame.
