Johnny on the spot after he slams U.S. (Johnny Depp)

Johnny Depp is feeling patriotic - about France.

The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star slammed the United States over Iraq in an interview in the German magazine Stern this week.

"America is dumb, is something like a dumb puppy that has big teeth - that can bite and hurt you, aggressive," he was quoted as saying.

Depp lives in France with the French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has two children.

He said he was delighted when he saw that French fries had been rechristened "freedom fries" in the U.S. Capitol canteen.

"Nothing made me happier than when I read that - grown men and grown women in positions of power in the United States government," Depp said. "I was ecstatic because they revealed themselves as idiots."

He said he wants his children - Lily-Rose, 4, and Jack, 1 - to regard the U.S. "like it's a kind of a toy - a broken toy, maybe. Investigate a little bit, check it out, get this feeling and then get out."

Depp joins a chorus of complaint over U.S. policy expressed recently by actors including Harrison Ford, Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon.

Coming a few days after the one-time Indiana Jones knocked the Bush administration, Depp's dig prompted a counterattack of punditry.

"There's no puppy love for a bunch of terrorist killers who slew 3,000 people in New York City not long ago," Larry Kudlow, of CNBC's "Kudlow and Cramer," told us. "Maybe Mr. Depp should think about that. Unfortunately, a lot of good actors say very stupid things. Frankly, I'm sorry he said this, because I was looking forward to seeing 'Pirates of the Caribbean,' but I'm not going to now."

Joe Scarborough, of MSNBC's "Scarborough Country," agreed that it was "a stupid thing to say. But he's got the freedom to say it because we liberated the French from Hitler."

Though he normally leans right, the former congressman added, "I'm a big Johnny Depp fan. The guy has already voted with his feet [by moving to France]. I don't think he's being hypocritical, because he's not enjoying American freedoms."

As it happens, Depp will be in the U.S. this weekend - visiting New York for the premiere of his movie "Once Upon a Time in Mexico," which co-stars Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek.

Chelsea set to wed?

Are Chelsea Clinton and boyfriend Ian Klaus circling the altar?

The former First Daughter, 23, just returned from a romantic Spanish getaway with her 24-year-old boyfriend.

"Chelsea and Ian's trip basically amounted to a honeymoon before the marriage," a pal says in the National Enquirer's next issue.

That's probably hyperbole, but the two plan to live in New York - mind you, in separate apartments.

Though it's said she'lll be earning a salary of $120,000, Chelsea is "going to be living in Manhattan with a good friend of hers," Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton told reporters on Tuesday.

"She is starting work this week at McKinsey [& Co.], which is a consulting firm here in the city," said the senator, adding, "I don't know what consultants do. I asked her that and she goes, 'Oh, mom!'"

Aside to Hillary: The Enquirer also features photos of your bikini-clad baby frolicking with Klaus in the hotel's pool.

I'd like to see Depp put those scissors back on, pick his nose, and sneeze.

Thought so, too :-)

I can't help you with any of the other names, myself, but I know the picture was dated 1991.

Just one problem, though... now we have to photoshop Britney in there! LOL

Do you think little Johnny is aware if it was not for Americans he would be living in the South of France with a German wife?

Johnny Depp: U.S. is like a stupid puppy
Wednesday, September 3, 2003 Posted: 10:17 AM EDT (1417 GMT)
BERLIN, Germany (Reuters) -- Hollywood star Johnny Depp said on Wednesday the United States was a stupid, aggressive puppy and he would not live there until the political climate changed.
The 40-year-old actor, who stars in the "Pirates of the Caribbean," told the German news magazine Stern he was happier staying in the south of France with his wife, the French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, and their two children.
Quote:
"America is dumb, it's like a dumb puppy that has big teeth that can bite and hurt you, aggressive," he said.

"My daughter is four, my boy is one. I'd like them to see America as a toy, a broken toy. Investigate it a little, check it out, get this feeling and then get out," said the star of the off-beat films "Edward Scissorhands" and "Dead Man."
Depp slammed George W. Bush's administration for its criticism of French opposition to the U.S.-led war in Iraq.
"I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots," he told Stern.

My take on the statement that Johnny Depp made is this:
He and his wife should stay in France and also I believe that his movies should be boycotted. When a two-bit movie actor makes a negative statement about our nation and president then he should stay in France with his stupid wife. I repeat the last part of his statement:
Quote:
I was ecstatic they re-named 'French Fries' as 'Freedom Fries'. Grown men and women in positions of power in the U.S. government showing themselves as idiots," he told Stern.

[AMERICA LOVE IT OR LEAVE IT]

And Johnny Depp
made his move from the United States and he should stay in France!!

He lives in france....

enough said..

I would rather be an agressive puppy then an old sorry ass dog of a country like france...

Hey Johnny, tell your wife and daughter to get used to wearing their bed sheets as clothes...

When the moslem hordes overrun your lovely little villa and take your wife and daughter and make them slaves don't cry to America...

When your one year old son is strapped with 50 pounds of C-4 and blows himself up in Jerusalem, you can blame your own self rightous bull*hit.

We are at war Johnny. Don't get mad at David because he picked up the stone and killed Goliath, just stay on the hill side and keep your mouth shut...

If your poor children only knew the truth, they would punch you in the face and move to Texas.

That isn't Mia, although I believe she did show up for that tribute. Her and Frank remained friendly up to his death.

I've always loved her full name. Maria de Lourdes Farrow-O'Sullivan
