I am curious to hear from you who are free state project members. Please give us your personal thoughts. Specifically, are you really going to do it, that is, move?
To: ConservativeDude
I am not a FSP member, having just found out about it today, but I would sure consider it...JFK

Interesting. I'm rooted but it is still interesting.
To: BADROTOFINGER
i hear you.
i might be in the wave after the 5K, after the choice is made. or i might wait to see if the 20K actually move.
i would say that i am convinced that this is a viable strategy.

If Bustamante wins in the California Recall, I'm signing up.

I got ties that hold me for about 5 more years, than I'm ready for the dark side of the moon if that's what it takes to get away from the nanny state.

I signed up.
I like to think I am committed, but mostly I just think its another idea out there that I am willing to listen to and depending on how things play out in my life, maybe the wife and I may make the drive someday.

From what I've scanned over, the 10 states meeting the Research Committee's criterion are Alaska, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Delaware. Has this list been reduced since this was posted?
To: JohnGalt
But if you are "iffy", and you signed up, what does that say about everyone else?
Of course, for every iffy person who signed up, there are probably some iffy people - like me - who haven't signed up. Wouldn't you think?
To: new cruelty
i think that is the list.
i read the paper on vermont today. i like the idea of really flipping that state on its head and ousting sanders, leahy and jeffords...not to mention any howard dean cronies still hanging out there.
To: ConservativeDude
I've not signed up yet due to family considerations, but I'll try to do what GHWB did and register at some hotel there, where ever it ends up, for voting purposes.
Cheers.

Galt's gulch, the concept of individual secession in the context of patriotism (as opposed to expatriating) is probably what attracted me to the idea in the first place.

I just wonder what states are on the shortest list. I am not sure that 20k would make a huge difference in most states except the least populated, and many of those are primarily rural farmland. I wonder how high Washington ranks with them? Would be nice not to have to move...JFK

Alaska sounds great but I am open to other places as well, as is my wife. I would consider moving in a few years once my wife is practicing medicine and we are not tied down to a residency program.
To: BADROTOFINGER
the analysis is really quite sophisticated....i think they factor in the ability to make a change...obviously 20K wouldn't do squat in california. so that is a factor which is accounted for, i think.
To: new cruelty
your wife could practice medicine in vermont if it wins...and then in a few years she could be governor!
To: new cruelty
Idaho would be a good choice. Buck Knives chose Post Falls when they finally told Kali to take their regulations and shove em...JFK
