I am curious to hear from you who are free state project members. Please give us your personal thoughts. Specifically, are you really going to do it, that is, move?

I am not a FSP member, having just found out about it today, but I would sure consider it...JFK

Interesting. I'm rooted but it is still interesting.

I got ties that hold me for about 5 more years, than I'm ready for the dark side of the moon if that's what it takes to get away from the nanny state.

I signed up.
I like to think I am committed, but mostly I just think its another idea out there that I am willing to listen to and depending on how things play out in my life, maybe the wife and I may make the drive someday.

From what I've scanned over, the 10 states meeting the Research Committee's criterion are Alaska, Montana, Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wyoming, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Delaware. Has this list been reduced since this was posted?

I've not signed up yet due to family considerations, but I'll try to do what GHWB did and register at some hotel there, where ever it ends up, for voting purposes.
Cheers.

My problem is that my medical conditions force me to live near a large city with excellent medical facilities. NH and Vermont would be my choice...were I healthy.
I was born in Baltimore, but I escaped...and I would return there just to be near Johns Hopkins. But MD is one of the most liberal states.
Ghod, I'd love Vermont. Especially with its lack of gun laws. I like cold places, lots of weather, and no hurricanes, tornados or earthquakes.
Alas.

I'm undecided whether or not I'm going to sign up for the FSP. I want to see which state is selected first. However, I do believe the Feds will use both economic and military force to try and crush it.

I am signed up for the first wave, but am not sure I am totally committed to moving. There are financial concerns as well as significant other objections....

I am curious to hear from you who are free state project members. Please give us your personal thoughts. Specifically, are you really going to do it, that is, move? If Wyoming or South Dakota are chosen as the project's goal state, I expect to relocate within 30 days of the announcement, since I have family land in that area. I can do almost as well if it's Montana; Idaho, Alaska or North Dakota might take me a little longer, but still, I foresee no immediate problems, just a bit more of a delay.
I really don't think the project is as viable in most of the potential eastern seaboard locations, and a couple of them are on my *opt-out* list. But New Hampshire and maybe Vermont have possibilities, and I've had some really touching offers of assistance with initial housing and relocation from some of those already resident there, so that spirit is also very much a factor in my considerations of a possible eastward move, though I don't favour that course.
On October 01, we'll find out. And I have a porcupine suit all ready to wear for my first Halloween party in our new home.
I better pick up a set of snow tires and chains, something I've not had much need for for my last half-dozen years hear in Memphis.

If it were conservatives (of the Republican type) doing it, I'd do it if I had a source of income that didn't depend on location. I guess we conservatives have Texas.

I'm hoping for New Hampshire myself, particularly since the GOP and the Governor have been most welcoming to the Free State Project. As it looks right now, I'll be able to move in within the next 2-5 years. I would definitely consider Idaho or Wyoming, although I hate the idea of being landlocked. Next choices would be Maine, and possibly Delaware.
To all the naysayers....bah, Humbug....but of course if you notice a tilt towards the right in our elective process, feel free to join up.

It seems that the FSP has crashed and burned.Out of 5000 ballots sent out, less than 1100 were returned. If these people can't be bothered to mail in a ballot,do you actually think they are going to move?
I was interested in the project and signed up over a year ago.We all had alot of hope for the project and it's a shame for it to have died a early death.
