ITHACA--When Elaine Surowick attends a live music performance, she not only hears the music, but sees the energy flow from the music and musicians alike.
An aura and energy reader, Surowick, 53, practices intuitive process facilitation -- helping people to explore and expand their creative abilities through energy work and exercises. Her clients include musicians, artists, healing practitioners, singers and writers across the county.

....she had begun to see people's auras as a result of her energy work, meditation and other spiritual practices...Surowick was surprised to find that her new studies were enabling her to read the energy of artwork as well...Surowick discovered she was able to see energy fluctuations surrounding musicians when they played. She decided to combine her art training and talent in reading energy to help creative people become more clear and grounded in their artistic purposes. Look...up in the sky...it's a loon, it's a hot air balloon...it's SUPER-HIPPIE!!!
Super-hippie, strange (and I DO mean strange) visitor from another planet, who came to Ithaca with powers and abilities far beyond mortal womyn...Super-hippie, who can change the course of mighty auras, bend granola in her bare hands...and, who, interviewed by a mildly naive reporter for a lame metropolitan newspaper, fights a never-ending battle for truth, social justice and the anti-American way!!!!
Surowick first came to Tompkins County in 1986. After living here for seven years, she left to attend college and travel and returned in 1999 to share her skills. ..."Ithaca felt like home," she said.
Of course it did, because Ithaca is the City of Evil.

"I just want to help people wherever they're at," she said. Thus providing an object lesson on ending a sentence with a preposition.

LOL! It's hilarious the way these people live up to the shallow cliches. For even more money, this lady ought to sell her own line of mood rings....

"Ithaca is the city of Evil."
Beyond that, she's hustling credulous people. In an evil city, people need the Bible not baloney!

My first laugh of the day, thank you.
Actually, I believe that it is quite possible that we do have an electromagnetic energy field around us, and that is what atracted me to this post. There are some grownups who are doing serious research in this field.
It figures that this burnout is in her 50's. Most of the cretins who have spent a lifetime destroying our country are now in their 50's. When I read a story like this, I am looking between the lines for evidence of a capitalist pig spouse who actually works for a living to allow these overgrown children to spew their nonsense. I wonder if Venus the cat has a job.

Actually, in the city of evil, there are plenty of fellow hippies buying what she's selling. She probably makes a nice coin off of the wives of wealthy professors and the like.

Elaine Surowick . . . not only hears the music, but sees the energy flow from the music and musicians alike. There is a technical term for this phenomenon. It is known as "schizophrenic hallucination."

Laugh now, but this woman will probably run for, and get elected to, some high Ithaca political office. ;-)

Auras around musicians? Let me guess...rock bands only?
Any groupie on acid could see the same thing.
Why didn't the reporter ask her if she ever dropped acid???

By the way, I noticed that each of the cuckoo clocks shows a different time.
They must be Ithaca cuckoos. We wouldn't want people to think that any one time was any more correct than another time. Time is very multicultural. We need a diversity of times. Telling people they have the wrong time could harm their self-esteem.

Neil Young wrote eloquently of Hippies and the "Hippie Dream" ( which by the way destroyed many of them):
Hippie Dream
Take my advice Don't listen to me It ain't paradise But it used to be There was a time When the river was wide And the water came running down To the rising tide But the wooden ships Were just a hippie dream Just a hippie dream. Don't bat an eye Don't waste a word Don't mention nothin' That could go unheard 'Cause the tie-dye sails Are the screamin' sheets And the dusty trail Leads to blood in the streets And the wooden ships Are a hippie dream Capsized in excess If you know what I mean. Just because it's over for you Don't mean it's over for me It's a victory for the heart Every time the music starts So please don't kill the machine Don't kill the machine Don't kill the machine. Another flower child goes to seed In an ether-filled room of meat-hooks It's so ugly So ugly.
