Freeper prayer request for Ernest_at_the_Beach (Update: His wife has since passed away)
August 28, 2003

Posted on 08/28/2003 4:56:10 PM PDT by Ragtime Cowgirl

Dear Freeper prayer warriors, please keep Ernest_at_the_Beach and his wife in your prayers.

From Ernest_at_the_Beach | 08/28/2003:

Just to let you know that my wife (Kathy ) is now in her final days. Her pain in the last few months from the cancer was constant and unrelenting .

The last several months had been very difficult as she was unable to eat well and not able to eat at all for the last several weeks.

God will be merciful soon and relieve her of the misery of the dreaded disease!

Prayers would be appreciated!

Praying for you and your wife, freeper friend. Yes......Our loving and merciful God will bring an end to her pain and paradise awaits your dear wife.

Hold fast to that promise and keep your heart close to the Lord. He will hold you through this time and bring peace.

Lord Jesus, I ask that You bring comfort to this man and wife as they face a passing that we all experience at some time and in some way.

Keep their eyes fixed on You and the hope of eternity. Let the end of this suffering be the beginning of wonderful memories and thankfulness for the love and companionship You have given these two children of Yours.

May they know the comfort that only You can bring.

In Jesus' name, Amen

Take My Hand, Precious Lord
(Words & music by Thomas A. Dorsey)
Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When my way grows drear precious Lord linger near
When my light is almost gone
Hear my cry, hear my call
Hold my hand lest I fall
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

When the darkness appears and the night draws near
And the day is past and gone
At the river I stand
Guide my feet, hold my hand
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

Precious Lord, take my hand
Lead me on, let me stand
I'm tired, I’m weak, I’m lone
Through the storm, through the night
Lead me on to the light
Take my hand precious Lord, lead me home

I shall remember you and your wife in my prayers. I know how hard it is to watch someone decline. My mother in law died of stomach cancer the first year we were married and I still remember the pain she suffered and the long days and nights sitting at her bedside. I worked in the hospital where she died, and I think I was the last to see her alive because I ate my lunch in her room. She didn't wake up and an hour later she was gone. Your wife is lucky to have someone love her and stay with her to the end. Be strong, and God be with you both as she flies home to Jesus raised on the wings of eagles.

(I don't have the words for the moment. I'll let a country boy do the talking...)

Oh well, I’m tired and so weary
But I must go alone
Till the lord comes and calls, calls me away, oh yes
Well the morning's so bright
And the lamp is alight
And the night, night is as black as the sea, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

Well the bear will be gentle
And the wolves will be tame
And the lion shall lay down by the lamb, oh yes
And the beasts from the wild
Shall be lit by a child
And I'll be changed, changed from this creature that I am, oh yes

There will be peace in the valley for me, some day
There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray
There'll be no sadness, no sorrow
No trouble, trouble I see
There will be peace in the valley for me, for me

-- (There Will Be) Peace In The Valley (For Me)

Lord God,

[PS at the front TO: Ernest_at_the_Beach: I don't know how much of this fits. It's just what came out. If it fits and draws you closer to God--Praise Him. Whatever doesn't, let slip into the trash without any bother about it at all, please]

You declared that by Jesus' stripes we WERE HEALED. Yet, so far, you clearly do not manifest the healing of everyone--even everyone with great faith. Yet, it is clearly possible for you to do so at this late date. And, Lord, it would be so wonderful to have her whole, 100% healed for her family and other loved ones. If our vote counts, in this, Lord, then we certainly vote energetically for that. So be it, in Jesus' Name.

Yet, Lord, it sounds and feels sadly in my gut that it is to be otherwise. We don't know your reasons well or completely, if at all. And, we know that this is boot camp wherein you are training and refining us that we might BEAR A GREATER WEIGHT OF GLORY THROUGH ALL ETERNITY. And how can we encourage you to avoid granting her the MERCY of a process that produces in and for her greater glory, authority, power than we can currently conceive of.

But Lord, sometimes, I want to scream--I won't care that much about greater Glory, healing, power, authority THEN--I care about the PAIN now! And as I imagine screaming on some mountain top about the shredding angst and pain of it all, I realize that I'm ignorant and don't know my left hand from my right.

But Lord, you are merciful--You are paragon MERCY. And perhaps this is yet another SEVERE MERCY as the graphic book so well portrayed. But it doesn't FEEL like a mercy, Lord.

OK, OK. Don't go by our feelings, go by faith--faith in Your altogether goodness, in your Love, in Your peace. And that's all well and good Lord, until you see someone who is part and parcel of the fabric of your being in atom wrenching pain beyond seeming limit and beyond sane bearing . . .

. . . . Faith that you do know the end from the beginning; that you do all things well; that you ONLY DO GOOD to those who Love you.

But Lord, this good seems wrapped in incredibly contrary wrapping paper. And it's bleeding all over my sanity, all over my emotions, all over everything I ever thought I knew about life and marriage and death and Love and righteousness. And I need you Lord. But more, my wife needs you, Lord.

At least hold her hand in your awesome hand. Hold her heart close to your heart. Hold her painful body close to your breast. You said you bore our sorrows, Lord. Can I see some evidence of you bearing her sorrows more demonstrably NOW?????!!!!

I say I'd take her pain for her, Lord. And so much of me would so easily. You gave me that much Love for her, Lord. But other big parts of me shudder at the thought. I'm terrrified to even view her pain and I can't imagine bearing 1/10th of it myself.

Lord God, we have made our peace in about all the ways we know how to. We have said good bye's in about all the ways we can and know how to. We have made all the fitting horrendous 'arrangements.'

Is another microsecond of pain really necessary, Lord? Please, take her on Home. Let her graduate from this tortured terrain. Let her ascend speedily to your eagerly waiting arms, to her Heavenly reward and all the glories, joys and pleasures Heaven can offer. Make it happen speedily, Lord, in Jesus' Name.

Dear One, we release you. We salute you. We already miss you. We miss your wholeness, your peace, your joys. But we will not hold you back from Heaven's joys any longer. We commend you into God's Rest. We commend you into your Heavenly roles. We commend you to wholeness and Joys Unspeakable. We release you from this dimension, this sphere. We release you from our fleshly and earthly family to God's eternal family and to His and our eternal Love more fully than you could ever experience here.

You have our peace and our blessing to let go and arise. You can have confidence that God's Peace will surpass even our understanding and sustain us until we meet on that golden shore, across The Jordan, just inside the Eastern Gate. God's speed to you most special, most precious, most bestest wife and mother. Go in His will. Pray there for us and remember that we daily will look forward to seeing you again probably sooner than any of us think.

Go in Peace. Go in Peace. Go in Peace. Go speedily in His Peace and experience instantly His Eternal Perfection and Wholeness--in Jesus' Name. Amen.
