Democrats say Taco bell poll is rigged (NOT A JOKE!)

California Democratic Party leaders yesterday blasted the Taco Bell restaurant chain for a sales promotion that counts sales of different menu items as votes in a mock California recall election.
Last week the Mexican-style fast food chain launched the campaign, urging Californians to put their vote where their mouth is. Taco Bell restaurants statewide are tallying each purchase of a crunchy beef taco as a vote for Republican challenger Arnold Schwarzenegger and each purchase of a chicken soft taco as a vote for not recalling Gov. Gray Davis. In the first week of the unofficial poll, votes for any of the remaining 134 candidates could be cast by buying a Grilled Stuft Burrito.
Taco Bell announced the first installment of its Taco Poll results yesterday, in which 54 percent of the votes went to Schwarzenegger and his crunchy beef taco, and just three percent of the votes went to Davis and his chicken soft taco. All other candidates received 43 percent of votes through purchases of the chains Grilled Stuft Burrito.
Unhappy with the mock poll results, the chairman of the California Democratic Party, former state Sen. Art Torres said yesterday that Taco Bell should stick to making tacos, not rigging elections.
In a press statement released yesterday, Torres said beef tacos always outsell chicken tacos, which cost twice as much at the restaurant chain. In Sacramento, Torres said, Taco Bell sells beef tacos for 74 cents and chicken tacos for $1.50.
Bob Mulholland, campaign advisor for the California Democratic Party, says the Taco Poll is also an investment scam to benefit Schwarzenegger. He pointed to the actors ownership of about $1 million of stock in Pepsico Inc. The company is the former owner of Taco Bell and is still its exclusive soft drink supplier, Mulholland says.
Meanwhile, Taco Bell announced yesterday that after an overwhelming response from consumers to include Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante in the Taco Poll, patrons can now vote for Bustamante by purchasing a Chalupa.
Customers can vote as often as they like at more than 1,000 California Taco Bell restaurants until the day before the Oct. 7 special recall election. The results are tallied and released every Tuesday, and can be viewed at www.tacobell.com.

"Real Californians go to Del Taco instead, anyway. (And In-N-Out Burger.)"
I agree. Let's create a food poll for these two outstanding fast food chains. At Del Taco, the regular tacos (hard and soft) are for Arnold, the chicken versions are for Davis. Nachos are for Bustamante (the Mexifornia vote)and Arianna gets the bean burritos. Gary Coleman gets the small fry vote!
At In-N-Out, let the Double-Double be for Arnold (beefier), the regular hamburger be for Davis, shakes for Bustamante. Arianna gets the diet Coke. Gary Coleman gets to be Iced Tea.
Don't forget that Del Taco has Taco Tuesdays. . . 3 for 99 cents! (After 3 p.m.)
I hereby nominate Graybird to contact the two chains so that they too may be voter aware - and increase sales at the same time. . .
Everyone satisfied?

"IMO Taco Bell is mucho better than McDonalds<" LOL! I have nothing against McDonalds- I take my dog through the drive-through there about once a week. He LOVES that stuff (especialyy the sausage-and-egg biscuit). But he likes cat turds, too, so his taste may not be the best...

Somebody in marketing should be kissed on the forehead. This person should be given a bonus and the keys to a Lexus, and told "See you in two weeks, we'll move your office to the corner while you are gone."
Brilliant, brilliant marketing.

THere is a something slightly reminiscent about it in tegards to 'where's the beef?'
To: mabelkitty
Davis = soft chicken
Schwarzenegger = crunchy beef
Where's the beef? hehehehe.
What's Bustamante then, refried beans?
To: PBRSTREETGANG
Taco Bell's numbers should be certified and Arnold should be declared the new governor. At least dead people don't vote in this "election".Ha! Although, if they keep "voting", they sure will be dead by the election! (A Dem conspiracy, perhaps?)

Taco Bell is not Mexican food. It's a really pathetic facsimile, at best. And, as Forrest Gump would say, "That's all I have to say about that."
To: mabelkitty
What they should do now is rerun the poll and reverse the food choice between Arnold and Bustamante. If there is a similar distribution, then no one can claim that people just liked soft chicken tacos a whole lot less, unfairly giving Arnold the edge.

They can't be serious. Surely this is some sort of joke the San Mateo Daily Journal reporter didn't pick up on. Even Art Torres isn't that nuts. Is He?
To: mabelkitty
No. Democrats are stupid. Read the article.
Yeah, if they were trying to increase revenue through sales in order to benefit Arnold as a stockholder, they'd choose the higher priced item for the guy they think more likely to get more votes.

Interesting. Do you know what the tall, black, furry hats are for(mean?), like the palace guards wear?I do now. Amazing what's out there on the Net.
Incidentally, I always thought that that hat was called a "Shako." Turns out it's called a "Busby." I learned something today.
