Kendall Coffey, Former US Attorney declares, "Supreme Court is the Highest Authority on this Planet"
Fox News | 27 Aug 03 | Kendall Coffey

Posted on 08/27/2003 7:02:49 AM PDT by xzins

Just stated in an interview on Fox News.

He declares herewith the ascendency of the judiciary. He didn't even mention the constitution being the supreme law of the land.

And, of course, he ignores God.

Stunning. Amazing.

Not stunning or amazing at all, in 2003.

Commonplace, outrageous, and tragic are better adjectives.

Look on the bright side, at least he didn't mention the U.N.

Such a statement is far larger than the 10 commandments case.

The judiciary needs to be brought under control.

And has been for 40 years. But who is going to do anything about it?

Given that the Supreme Court is now citing international and foreign judicial rulings in its decisions, who does that put on top, then?

:>) The sheer "out of touchness" of such a statement is amazing. Whatever they say about guns is SUPREME. If they decide that "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" means gun control and no private ownership, then everyone must turn in their guns because that's the RIGHT thing to do in the face of the

"Planet's Highest Authority."

I would say that in this man's mind, it puts the US Supreme Court as the primary power on the face of the earth.

Kendall Coffey is a big-time Democrat. IIRC he was on the Gore legal team trying to steal the election in Florida.

Not only that, but Coffey was supposedly a member of the team trying to keep Elian Gonzalez from being returned to Fidel Castro. BUT if reports I heard are correct, Coffey was not working in good faith for Elian, but was actually a mole in the Elian camp.

I've listened to the "experts" that Fox News has had on this morning on this issue. All of them are Pro-"Sep of Church State" interpreters. Not one has been found who speaks for the other side.

Oh, they have interviewed a few preachers and Christians from the crowd; those who are not accomplished or credentialed.

Hardly a fair and balanced discussion.

Then why do they look to Europe's laws when determining the constitutionality of ours?

What an idiot. The supreme court only has authority over the parties before the court on a particular case in which the Consitution or the laws of the US gives it jurisdiction. Statutory judrisdiction can be changed by Congress, of course. Consitutional jusisdiction can be changed by the amendment process.

Since they believe in making them say what they want, they're always looking for some sleight of hand to fool the public.

I've often wondered if the Executive would put the military behind the dictates of the Supreme Court Politburo.

The 1973 SCOTUS aided and abetted the slaughter of more than 42,000,000 fellow human beings. Which currently dictating government or despot has been responsible for more that you can name?

Kendall Coffey is/was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Bill Clinton, Inc. His views are reprehensible, dishonest, and unconstitutional. But they are in no way surprising.

His arrogance is similar to that exhibited by some Justices on the Court. Click below.

Coffey's assertion should not surprise anyone ... it is the philosophy of the democrat criminal enterprise and the precise reason they are obstructing in order to control who gets on federal courts! And it is why I'm disgusted with the Pubbies for playing politics with judgeships, instead of playing hardball with the democrat bastards. Delaying dealing with the criminal democrats, to get more votes, is sacrificing the 'court renovations' necessary to heal this nation from the disease of liberalism infecting us from democrat rule.

An Onion Parody (I thought one of the funniest)

WASHINGTON, DC--In a landmark decision Monday, the United States Supreme Court ruled 8-1 that it rules.

Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing on behalf of the majority, noted that "while the U.S. Constitution guarantees equality of power among the executive, legislative and judicial branches, it most definitely does not guarantee equality of coolness, and in this regard, the judicial branch kicks that which can be construed as total and complete ass."

"In the case of The U.S. Supreme Court v. Everyone Else (1997)," wrote Justice Clarence Thomas, "this court wins by a serious landslide."

According to the decision, the Supreme Court "rules and rules totally, all worthy and touched by nobody, in perpetuity, and in accordance with Article Three of the U.S. Constitution. The ability of the President and Congress to keep pace with us is not only separate, but most unequal. Fuckin' A."

The lone dissenting voice came from Associate Justice David Souter, who worried in his minority opinion that Monday's decision represents "an unnecessary and excessive wielding of judicial power, as the Supreme Court should not need an official ruling to know that it rocks, for it simply does and always has, and that is all there is to say."

The case stems from a 1995 discussion between Chief Justice William Rehnquist and U.S. Sen. Trent Lott (R-MS) over the relative awesomeness of the Supreme Court and the U.S. Congress. After a particularly vicious "dis" on the judiciary, Rehnquist ordered Lott to refrain from what he termed "excessive and inflammatory ragging on my homies."

Lott subsequently challenged Rehnquist in the D.C. Court of Appeals, saying that the Chief Justice had no authority to curtail his right to freedom of expression "merely on the grounds of him being all insecure and knowing I'm right."

Lott, the majority leader of the Senate, said he was "profoundly disappointed" by the decision, but would abide by it. "It's not like I have to," Lott said. "But since the final word on constitutional interpretation is pretty much the only thing the Supreme Court gets to do, I suppose we can let the babies have their bottle."

Lott then sneered powerlessly at the Court building, from whose windows the justices were loudly blaring Twisted Sister's 1984 youth anthem, "We're Not Gonna Take It."

As a result of the ruling, the President and Congress will have to treat the Supreme Court with respect and dignity at all times, including giving them priority both in getting to the front of the line in the U.S. Capitol cafeteria, and in getting seats on the Senate's private, underground transportation system.

"The Supreme Court is the place to be in '97," said Justice Antonin Scalia following Monday's ruling. "Legislative branch ain't shit."

"With Ruth on the bench," Scalia added, "we got more chicks than ever."

"Nobody can carry the collective jock of this court," Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said. "Our verdict in Smiley v. Citicorp (1995), which upheld the right of banks to charge late fees on out-of-state credit card accounts even when cardholders' home states ban or limit such fees, hauled major ass."

The Supreme Court is out of session for the next two weeks for a road trip to Toronto, reportedly being made in Justice John Paul Stevens' "Love Van."
