And what's the basis for your claim that Ahnold agrees with conservative positions even "60%" of the time, as you suggest?

On channel 7 in LA, they said that the results were based upon those who were registered to vote and were "certain" to vote (those saying that they were "certain" to cast a vote Oct. 7). They said that the "likely voters" result would be different, but they didn't say how different. Obviously this is one key difference between this and other poll results.

Eating that, I'd vote for a few glasses of water and a silencer!

What I don't get is what benefit an Arnold victory brings.

No Gray Davis and no Bustamante.

I thought Arnold was supposed to drop after Simon dropped out. For the life of me I never figured that one out!

That said -- personally think polls are pretty worthless right now!

They polled over 900 people and threw out around 400 because the respondents weren't adamant enough about voting on Oct. 7th.

I understand it might be difficult to "see" things here in Cali from all the way in Indiana, but try try... I already pointed out four key differences. Why do you assert that Arnie will raise taxes when he has said the he will not?

Heck he did if'n you believe this poll they did a couple of weeks ago....... But I agree that at this stage polls don't mean much other than possible trend indicators..... the below is what the poll showed a couple weeks ago.

...let me say that I really think highly of the guy {McKlintock}, and if he's leading Schwarzenegger in credible polls near the election, I will vote for him.

Myself, I am doing minimal posting until some candidates actually present position on issues, etc.

Ditto.

polls have shown that only 7% of Americans of Mexican decent bother to vote in any of the elections

Really.

From the November 4, 2002 Silicon Valley / San Jose Business Journal: ",Latinos represent 28 percent of the adult population, 17 percent of whom are registered voters and 16 percent of them likely voters."

A bit more than 7% wouldn't you say?

Today, Hispanics represent about 38% of the state's population and their participation is increasing at about the same rate as Moore's Law. That suggests that about 30% of adult Hispanics in California may participate in the upcomming election.

That means about 4.5 million Hispanic voters in October.

You think 95% of registered voters will vote?

I thought like you did, but I read an article that supposedly studied who voted and that 7% number came out of the article.

I think I read it here of FR about 2-4 weeks ago.

Might have also been a poster regarding statistics from the census or other source.

Sorry I can find it right off for you. I'll try and find it though.

Don't you know the Arnold supported a Kiddie Kare initative on last Novembers ballot the will cost us a minimum of 1/2 a billion and probably twice that. I thought FReepers were opposed to cradle to grave tax supported BS like that...

I am a huge fan of Chris Cox and he endorsed that measure.

Enough of people and their "real conservatives wouldn't support this" line. Time and again that is proven false.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/960257/posts

Excerpt:

His charitable activities include a foundation that provides after-school programs for 200,000 kids and served as the inspiration for Proposition 49--an initiative he sponsored last year to expand after-school programs to every school in California. In a stroke of political genius, the initiative didn't raise taxes or cut any other program. Its funding mechanism only kicks in when economic growth naturally increases state revenues. Proposition 49 carried 50 out of the state's 53 congressional districts, winning endorsements from both Rep. Chris Cox, an Orange County Republican, and Rep. Henry Waxman, a Hollywood Democrat.

Maybe this poll takes into account that voters who will vote "NO" on the recall can't vote for the successor. I don't think the other polls have been doing that. This may mean that Bustamante doesn't really have a shot.
