Statement on the withdrawal of candidate Bill Simon
Senator Tom McClintock today released the following statement:
I am genuinely sorry that Bill Simon is dropping out of the race. He offered a perspective to the debate that will be missed. But his decision to withdraw intensifies my resolve to stay and fight.
At stake in this campaign, is the future of California - and that decision belongs to the people of California and must not be left to the country club back rooms. If the most qualified candidate must defer every time a celebrity or a millionaire casts a longing eye on public office, weve lost something very important in our democracy, and its called merit.
They said that War Admiral couldnt be beat and shouldn't have to run a race against the likes of Seabiscuit. Let me assure everyone that I am one horse that is in this race to the finish line.

McClintock has a lot of *NERVE* dissing Arnold for being a *MOVIE STAR* and then using a *MOVIE ANALOGY* to make his point! What else can a political foe reference when running against Arnold!
Arnold has yet to convey a firm political stance on anything! (less he's for the children)Apparently, you missed the point that Arnold is one he!! of a good body builder and actor and with his God given talents has promoted himself financially to the point of being able to run for Governor of California.
He hasn't, IMO, been forward in what his agenda will be if elected because he hasn't surrounded himself with all the appropriate people as of yet to tell him what his agenda is.

McLoser is the next Bill Simon:
he'll either drop like him, or cost the party a winnable election and end his career forever
on the merits:
many of us probably disagree with about half of what each of McLoser and the Terminator stand for--the difference being that we could win with arnold or vote for some other splinter candidate with whom we agree more fully (Libertarian, or whomever)
just like the republican party in general, you can either make arnold a winner or waste your time

Gov. Gray Davis' top individual contributor since 2000 has joined Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger's team of economic advisers, a move some analysts characterized as a new sign of the governor's falling support.
Broadcasting baron A. Jerrold Perenchio, a Republican, made the move just weeks after donating $50,000 to the anti-recall campaign. He has given Davis $775,000 since 2000, outdone only by $956,000 contributed by the California Correctional Peace Officers Association.
"Psychologically, this is a sign that Schwarzenegger is invading the governor's turf," said Claremont McKenna College government professor Jack Pitney. He said Perenchio "likes to play the side he thinks is going to win."
Perenchio, chairman and chief executive of Spanish-language Univision Communications Inc., donated $1 million last year to Schwarzenegger's successful Proposition 49, which sets aside part of the state budget for children's' after-school programs.
Contribution reports indicate no donations yet to Schwarzenegger.
Davis anti-recall spokesman Peter Ragone declined comment on Perenchio's decision to join the council chaired by billionaire investor Warren Buffett and former U.S. Secretary of State George Shultz.
Perenchio did not attend the 23-member council's first meeting Wednesday because he was traveling. A request for comment left on the voicemail of a Univision spokeswoman was not immediately returned Saturday.

Am I the only one who is fed up with that damn horse? Who gives a crap about a freaking horse race????!!! Enough with seabiscuit!!! I could not care less about the stupid movie about a racing horse! Gosh how lame that movie has got to be and you could not PAY me to see it.
I just keep hearing "seabiscuit this, seabiscuit that" all over tv, even the evening news. This is ridiculous.
And now McClintock invokes the horse? Another reason to vote Arnold.

Yea Yea Yea Roscoe I know....But he's a Republican.. so it all good
To: Roscoe
Just wonderful. I think we can rule out Schwarzenegger's continuting support of 187.
So, his conservative credentials at this point seem to be that he probably won't raise taxes, unless he has to.
