Geoghan killed in prison (Boston Herald)
Breaking news/by Eric Convey
Saturday, August 23, 2003
Former priest John Geoghan, a notorious pedophile whose case sparked the clergy molestation scandal of the past 18 months, died this afternoon after being attacked at the state prison in Shirley.
``The perpetrator has been isolated,'' said Kelly Nantell, a spokeswoman for the state Deparment of Corrections.
``Our investigation continues,'' she said.
The matter has been referred to the Middlesex County District Attorney Martha Coakley's office.
Geoghan was serving a nine-to-10 year sentence at MCI Shirley for allegedly groping a boy at a Waltham swimming pool.
More than 140 people have claimed they were abused by Geoghan, claiming they were fondled or raped at locations ranging from church rectories to their own homes.
Geoghan would become one the most notorious pedophiles in the country - not only for the extent of his rampage against children but because relevations about his case led to the unraveling of secrecy within the Archdiocese of Boston.
Bernard Cardinal Law's cordial letters to Geoghan, mixing discipline with praise for his priestly service, that pushed many victims from disbelief to outrage.

How about just giving so many "Green Stamps" per murder?
To: FITZ; wardaddy
I'm impressed by FITZs comments as well. Hopefully the media blitz and moral outrage will convince the bishops to drop pedophile priests like hot potatoes.
Some FReepers are just bigoted morons with comments like that, but the real problem lies with the Bishops. Don't cover for evil.

I think that much of this is a smooke screen thrown up by the homosexual lobby. People have been blinded by it, obviously.

Sorry to use a euphamism that confused you.......I just happen to believe that CHILD ABUSERS have an especially nasty place awaiting them in the afterlife.........especially so-called 'men of God' who participate in these acts! Forgive me for using an old book called the Bible for my basis. It's a MORALITY issue.

Let's reduce the sentences of any inmate who kills another inmate by four months for every inmate they take out."Your idea is similar to George Carlin's idea of creating giant fenced off open air prisons connected by gates. Each prison would contain a particular type of criminal. There would be cameras by the gates, and the gates would be opened by remote control for a couple of hours each week and the melee that ensued would be caught on the cameras and broadcast live on pay-per-view.

On the Cathlic basher front, I gave you a lifetime achievement award not just for this thread. Be as tired as you like. We aren't going away as a Church. That is guaranteed on the Highest Authority. See the Peter passage in Matthew.
That last word you were struggling for was TRUTH.

Another preening, self-aggrandizing post by the perfumed whited sepulchur who has convinced himself that his is the definitive and final word on everything.
Hush children, Blackelk has just bloviated.

I agree, I can't believe the posters are cheering a murder! I don't care if they don't like the sentence he was given, he was sentenced to death, or even life in prison.

You might want to remeber the part of the Lord's Prayer that says: Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us. You have not a higher standing than the violated have. You might want to ponder the words given us by Christ before meeting Him shortly after death. He said what He meant and meant what He said.
Trust me. I despise Geoghan's behavior and all similar behavior by his fellow pedophiles and other lavenders in the priesthood and out. Judgment as to heaven and hell is not yours or mine but God's. Let's try not to have ourselves as strange gods (strange indeed!) before Him. Whetever He decides MUST, by definition, be better than your decisions or mine.

Is it true that this is the gateway drug to "Mothra?"

Ah, you have a problem with Catholic clergy generally. I see.
It would come as a major surprise to sinkspur that you think he has somehow mesmerized me. We are actually quite ogften quite antagonistic. Since we are both Catholic, hoever, we will agree from time to time. Leaving eternal judgment to God and refraining from wishing the eternal damnation of ohers are among those times. Plenty of people find their way to hell, each for his or her own reasons. We can retain enough dignity not to cheer them being sent to hell. My Baltimore Catechism informs me that God made me (and Geoghan and you) to know Him, love Him and serve Him in this world and to be hppy forever with Him in the next. Of course, like Ohio State football, this requires steady performance iof the three yards and a cloud of dust variety until death and that sins be repented sincerely. I cannot know the state of Geoghan's soul at the time he was strangled. Neither can you. Those who love God, love His agenda as stated above. The Lord's Prayer also prays to God: Thy will be done (not mine, not yours, not Geoghan's). If God wills it, it has to be a better idea than what you or I might will or Geoghan.
If you are going to make snide remarks about sinkspur (as I siometimes do) it is also polite and epected that you ping him (unless he says otherwise) so that he may respond. Otherwise, you are talking behind his back.
The punishment for Geoghan's crime was ten years and he faced more trials as well. It was not that he be murdered. Last time I checked, God had a whole commandment about that one. Thou shalt not kill (murder).
No one suggested absolving Geoghan of his crimes against the laws of Massachusetts. Actually, I am very enthusiastically in favor of the successful prosecution of each and every lavender queen or coverup artist (bishops) in an AmChurch Roman collar who can be prosecuted under law and for max punishment too. It makes the internal purge of the liberal AmChurch by actual Catholics that much easier when the bad guys are confined or executed at taxpayer expense under public authority. You may have noticed that they don't let us burn them at the stake any more. We have been forced to rely on the state. Fair enough. I don't think it is a good idea to delegate responsibility by negligence to J. Random Convict.

Well, that was a logical argument to cower on account of. We will be here long after you are gone and forgotten.
Do you actually have children or is that just a fantasy?

There are no homilies more substantial than yours!!!
Take two lines of substance, add five pounds of rhetorical fat and you have the gospel acording to Blackelk.
Why is it that whenever you walk into a room, the smartest guy always becomes the second smartest guy?
You are so full of yourself.

Don't be misled by Catholic Clergymen, such as sinkspur, again. He is a liar. And you've got a major burr under your saddle against the Catholic Church, as an ex-Catholic. You're also rude as hell for gossipping behind another poster's back.
Just wanted to get that on the record.
