With Simon out, there's only one conservative in the race -- - McClintock's 1) the most experienced; 2) the most knowledgeable; 3) the one with the most well-articulated vision; 4) the one with Reagan-like CONVICTIONS (not convenient "opinions" adopted yesterday -- and subject to change tomorrow; 5) the one who's from the MIDDLE CLASS so he KNOWS that TAXES HURT -- he feels it in his bones, not through a focus group -- so we can trust him to keep his word.

Show me where in the media Mister Bustamante has been outed on his "slip of the tongue" . If the people don't know about it it doesn't mean much does it.and as jesse says they will give him a pass..... As for him being a viable canndidate, maybe you should follow the polls more closely and listen to the Latinos...it will all boil down to who comes out to vote...as always...do people come out to vote for or against something? Davis was the worst POS ever in California but he got reelected..why? How important is name recognition? How many people vote strictly d or r or for someone they relate to such as a hispanic name or movie actor?

I still fail to see how a vote for McClintock is a "vote for Bustamante".

It isn't in this type of election. Unless McClintock really surges in the polls, it's the same as not voting at all.

As much as I'd like to see the term "Gov. McClintock" in common usage, conservatives are likely to be faced with the choice of Aaaahnold or Bustamante; not McClintock. One can say what one will about voting on "principle", but the fact of the matter is that splitting the State's scant GOP electorate will get Bustamante elected. Bustamante may be the only person in the State who's less qualified to be governor than Gray-out Davis. Are we willing to see him in office so that we can chase a quixotic dream of electing a true-blue conservative in a decidedly non-conservative State?

Firstly, he's a a moderate Republican, not a lib leftist. And what makes you think he won't? He's a fiscal conservative who happens to believe in programs for kids. From my experience I know that's the best way to keep kids from becoming long term liabilities and perhaps even convicts. It's good common sense. Too bad you don't see that.

You know the stuff that he has believed in all of his life, not empty promises from an empty suit made weeks before the election.

Allowing your personal opinion of the man and/or cynicism of politicos in general to guide your decisions might work for you, but I'll rely on the man’s history of supporting the Republican Party and it's fiscal ideology.

Show me the poll that says that. I'm not buying it. Bustamante's a stumblebumb; McClintock could clean his clock. I'd love to see McClintock destroy him in a debate.

Unfortunately you are not having a primary. The 5% to 10% conservative vote he skims off Ah-nold will probably be just enough to put "Big Breasts" in the governors chair.

You would have been better off with Davis, at least he was term limited.

Do you have inside knowledge of a plan for election fraud, in which election officials are planning to move votes from the McClintock column to the Bustamante column?

No, but there have been highly suspicious circumstances of undocumented Hispanics voting (Loretta Sanchez) in California.

I think Uberroth has to get out and throw his support to McClintock before McClintock has a chance. Then you'd have a horse race and a real choice with Bustamante, Schwartzenegger and McClintock splitting the vote almost equally. Unfortunately, I think Cruz would be mildly favored because you would still have the slavish Unions (teachers, public employees, etc.) all backing the Dem candidate. the only thing that would change that is if the campaigns could link Bustamante definitively with the failing government in the minds of the voters.
