I appreciate your offering that you both like Tom. The pitiful part is you won't use your energy to help advance the cause.

The pity is that McClintock canot win with Arnold's shadow in place, and the polls bear that out. In a longer campaign I might agree with you. However, with a little over a month to go and the support for a recall itself in question, we need to rally behind the strongest force there is...ARNOLD. If McClintock and Ueberroth are out by Labor Day then we have a chance. If not, then pray. Because the worst possible scenario is Recall YES Bustamate YES. This is a vote for the advancement of AZTLAN terrorism in the Untied States. Even Gray Davis would be better than that.

But to deny others to chance to run and espouse their views for the "sake of the party", makes me ill.

Please think aout how naive that sounds. I have been a political consultant for 15 years. Believe me, there is no chance whatsoever for McClintock, and barely one for Arnold. Tom needs to exit ASAP. Bustamante would be disastrous for California and the nation.

I have a question for you. Please be honest. When the talk of a recall started. What where your thoughts Political Consultant? I bet you dollar to doughnuts it was the recall did not have a snowball chance in hell to go forward. umh.....

Vote splitting by purists and zealots has had a terrible effect on Canadian politics, so I do know what I am talking about.

Point well taken. Thank you

I've been seeing a lot of back and forth about Arnold vs. McClintock, but haven't seen an awful lot on what could happen WHEN Grayout fires the scandal accusations toward Arnold. I believe Davis will use a "scorched-earth" tactic, and he probably has dirt on Arnold that he'll unload shortly before the election. Speculation, yes, but do we believe that Davis hasn't had opposition research done against Arnold? We have seen suggestions that Arnold has a "history". It remains to be seen what that is, but there has been speculation of steroids, womanizing, groping, etc. How will that affect the voter who doesn't spend his days posting on Free Republic? Any political analysists out there care to analyze?

Hardly. I always thought it had a great chance with Gray Davis' historically horrible poll numbers. If fact I am surprised that the recall "yes" margin is so small at this point, which I have to chalk up to the appearance of GOP disarray, while Bustamante stands alone.

Thanks for the "naive".. we'll see. I'll add it to "prissy and self-righteous" which are just a couple of things I have been called for supporting Tom to the end if he so chooses to run.

15 years as a political hack, huh? Any of your candidates or causes win?

imho, Arnold is a grandstander the way he entered the race so late, he made a lot of dough off the free publicity for T3 and is milking his "I'm your man" image, when he surrounds himself wioth a majority of his shadiest supporters..

The fact is, this election is far from over. He made the biggest leap of his life without a safety net.

Welcome to the center ring, Arnie! Hope you enjoy the circus you and Larry Flynt and some others have made this.

The Recall is about trying to turn this state around and get us off the drug called socialism, one of mankind's most sadistic, dishonest ideas ever perpetuated.

It's the grassroots against the godless, it's a recall the state GOP and bigwigs repubs wanted no part of when it started but they sure don;t mind sticking their own outside candidate in the race. Makes ya wonder whose side they really are on.

If Cruz wins, then the issues of illegals and such will continue to hound this state. I look forward to the debates and forums and how Cruz will respond

Yup, politics is interesting stuff, alright, ya picked a helluva profession. ;-)

15 years as a political hack, huh? Any of your candidates or causes win?

Ads for Chambliss (the nasty ones), Talent, Sununu, and Jeb, along with a handful of House races, all winners.

Two campaigns rejected several nasty, hard-hitting ads we offered (as Lazio did in '00): Bill Simon and Doug Forrester (NJ). Both lost. I have met both men and was amazed with how dumb they were (although I wouldn't throw Simon's wife out of bed).

I did not mean to insult you with my comment. I asked if you knew how "naive" that comment sounded. It is important for all of us to seperate out our idealism from our realism. The campaign managers for Forrester and Simon believed they would win until the last minute, even though neither had a snowflake's chance. There are 6 weeks to go in the California campaign. It is beyond naive to believe that Tom McClintock can win or even gain minimal name recognition in that timeframe--even if we were the only candidate, which he is not. Arnold will not be dropping out. He does not quit once he decides something. It is beyond naive to believe that Tom McClintock can win against both Arnold and Cruz.

If the vote for recall is above 50%, a Vote for McClintock is a Vote for Bustamante. In fact, just having McClintock in the race is several hundred thousand votes for Bustamante. Surely you MUST realize this.

congrats on all your hard work. amazing per the latest FR poll that this forum is now half-occupied by moderates and RINOs ... principles , my butt!

The commies took over the demRat party and they are well on their way to doing the same here in the CA GOP.

sometimes losing .. IS .. winning .

If you consider the election of Cruz Bustamante, longtime member of a racist organization which seeks to merge 8 American states with Mexico, to be Chief Executive of the World's 5th largest economy "winning" than I haven't the slighest idea what to tell you. Except that if Tom McClintock remains in the race, that it exactly what will happen.

You wonder if McClintock has the vision and sense of duty/honor to drop out when he is loosing before election.

Most ah-nold voters won't vote for McClintock, and there aren't enough conservatives in CA to stage a traffic jam. That's why I left.

So now I just sit and watch the R's in CA go kaput again and again and again.
