Me thinks the wife wanted all the money to go to HER kids. He wasn't too keen on the idea so she locked him out. Women do have the upper hand.

Plus, the lotto is a tax on stupid people. Also check out the author's name. Pulitzer?

He's gonna win.

Half the accumulated proceeds in any marriage, in most cases, are split between the partners.

If they file returns jointly, the old bitch has no case and will have to give up half. Even if they don't, her case is weak. What a stupid move.

I hope he wins the entire pot. This shrew deserves to experience some of the same anguish.

He said that in June, she locked him out of the condo.

So kick in the f**king door! Sheesh. What kind of a loser is this guy.

Looks like love never existed if you ask me.

Shows her character, she latched onto him and them played games. He should have put his foot down with the first condo incident.

Just a sad story, she will probably try and negotiate a 75/25 then a 60/40 then a 51/49 just to bust his chops.

Yeah, but New York isn't a community property state. The rule is "equitable distribution", which means - ha ha - that it's actually meaningful in a legal sense that she's the only one who signed the ticket, and the only one who owns the condo. And it's also important who actually paid for the winning ticket, which is why he's making that claim right from the start.

That being said, I highly doubt she's going to wind up getting away with this, even if there is a theoretical possibility that she might. Judges tend to frown on these sorts of games in divorce cases. It'll go 50-50, or dan close to it, most likely.

The stingy old b*tch is gonna end up forking over a huge hunk to the lawyers because of a mess she created.

Good. This nasty dustbag needs to be kicked right in her wrinkles.

That's the stupidest part about it. If she just gave the $12.5 mil and went their separate ways it would have saved them a lot of money. Playing games is going to cost her easily half a million when the lawyers are through.

A guy who is not totally ignorant of the state of domestic violence law.

If he had kicked in the door, he would have lost everything, guaranteed! Women have all the cards in that game.

A 77 year old loser. He would have broken his hip just thinking about it.

"Looks like love never existed if you ask me."

Yep, you are right, no love lost there. Now if I could only hear her side of the story. I have heard his.

Now he is divorcing her, and yesterday filed a motion in Suffolk County Court seeking half of the jackpot.

He'll get it too. That's community property and HALF goes to each :)

His lawyer, Dominic Barbara, is a top gun trial lawyer on Long Island. Among many others, he represented Mary Jo Buttafuoco for a while in the Amy Fisher case. I think they have a good case to get a nice payday, though this will probably settle. Good points for him include being married for 15 years and their having a pattern of playing the lottery together, plus the fact she kicked him out.

Kick in the door? Then she'll press charges against him and get a restraining order. He may even spend an evening in jail.
Naturally this will come up in the divorce proceedings... he was violent, I was afraid for my life, I had to get away from him etc.
The court is not concerned with what caused something, only the end results.
One thing is certain, two lawyers stand to earn PLENTY of money from these two. They'll collect 1/3 of his half (After he pays the other court fees) If you're a lawyer with a client that won lotto, you've won lotto.

Yeah, she really resents that a 77-year old is her husband now that she is a multi-millionare. Viagra probably doesn't even help this guy, and she wants a new young stud.

It is very amusing (and tragic) what money does to people. This Lotto ticket is her Golden Calf...she will lose her family, her self, her faith in God and morality, all in wosrhip of this idol.

Amen! Lots of money + 2 Crazy Parties = Large Legal Fees
