Arnie is a rock solid elitist. He is going to be their for one reason. To protect the interest of transnational corporations, while keeping the little people distracted with his movie star prowess. First question for Arnold: Who do you believe Jesus Christ was and is?
Go Tom go!

Schwarzenegger pledged Wednesday to protect education from any budget cuts. Thats where he lost me.
In April 1999 I was on the hook yearly for ~$80,000 in state/federal income taxes. In 2000, 2001, and 2002 I paid $0. I probably have 25 more good years in me, but I refuse to contribute anymore. No income, no income tax. Im out. Heading out of CA too.
Fully half of my state taxes (and a portion of my federal taxes) went to education. For the amount Im paying I expect the children to be able to read in several languages. I expect them to write in several languages. I expect them to do math calculations like my HP-48. I expect them to destroy Japanese students in contests that are conducted *in Japanese*.
I expect them to eat a bag of chips and poop gold nuggets thats what I was paying for. Actually, the children were being fed gold nuggets and are pooping the regular poop
not even that. No dice. No Arnold. No more money. Im done.
Somehow, I think I'll squeak by. I don't know that "the children" will.

Who dat?
To: hotpotato
Arnold Schwarzenegger has stated clearly his intention to cut taxes to make California's job climate a competitive one. I haven't heard Arnold say he'll cut taxes. Have any of you?
To: Who dat?
You can't balance California's budget if education is off the table. Prop 98 funding makes up 46% of the new budget. If you ignore that, you have to cut out a quarter of the remaining budget just to keep from adding to the accumulated deficit, let alone get back in the black.
A one-fourth cut means you really would have to lay off highway patrolmen, maybe stop funding some public hospitals, etc. I think Ahnold is much more likely to hike taxes than he is to do any of these things.

Have you heard specifically that he'll raise them?

Have you heard specifically that he'll raise them? Well, yes, in the event of an earthquake, other natural disaster or a terrorist attack as he said yesterday.
But, hey, he's a Republican who can win. And much as he's a liberal on social issues, that's the only type who could probably take California anyway.

You got links and data or are you just 'funning again'? 46%?

Arnold: No new taxes.
Davis: No Newt attacks us.
Carey: No Nude taxes.
Flynt: Lewd and tactless.
Bustamonte: Taxes no news.
Huffington: No new Texas.
Coleman: ???
This is a "work" in progress.

"Arnold Schwarzenegger is an absolute, rock-solid fiscal conservative,"
I feel like I want to break the jaw of the next person to say this. It's just not so.

But, hey, he's a Republican who can win. And much as he's a liberal on social issues, that's the only type who could probably take California anyway. Then why haven't the liberal Republicans we've been nominating in statewide campaigns been winning? Why are they losing worse than conservatives?

(It's time for Arnold to stop splitting the Republican vote and step aside for the good of the party)
To: JRandomFreeper
Does anyone else remember the term "Hoovervilles" from civics textbooks in grammer school? Yeah, except the Hoover Institution is THE most conservative think tank in America.
Thomas Sowell is associated with the Hoover Institution.
