"Our right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness are God-given rights, no government can take that away, or can they?"

Do I smell a lawyer? A judge? A demoncrat?

I don't recall any solicitation for permission.

Then IMO, the action was inappropriate.

If it were my kid, I'd be very upset. Then again, no child of mine will ever go to public school.

Did he have each and every student's parents permission? I for one am extremely opposed to strangers approaching children with literature of any sort without the parents full knowledge and permission.

Holy crap! Maybe you'd better check out the public schools agenda. Boy, are you in for a dark suprise! Ever heard of fisting class?

Put them on a billboard.

Great idea! An abortion poll showed 90% of Americans believe there is a God, but not all practice. That ought to open their eyes to the athiest facism debate.

Well, my point is that they got away with it, and many folks would probably say more power to them. I mean, they hand out condoms in school, what's wrong with Bibles? A lot of folks would ask that question. And Alabama has a lot of folks who would see it that way. So no one complained.

Don't forget the other cirriculms now proudly emerging on our campuses - - How To Be Gay.

God (hehe) forbid someone would bring a Bible (or even worse, flash the Ten Commandments on the walls) of one of these well-funded and politically protected classrooms!

The pre-born infant has lost it's right to life. As amatter of fact, it gets the death sentance before being convicted of a crime. The punishment is being dismembered alive.

I was told the fastest ticket off a jury in Greene County Ohio was to tell them you were an Engineer working at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Atheists and secularists(which is the same thing as communists). I might add, France is now nearly completely secular. Their society, as we have seen recently with the Iraq war and their duplicity with the Iraqi government, is really messed up.

This is not the question, but only a diversion.

"Out of public view" is the issue. I have shown in detail why that assertion is inaccurate. Heck, the Commandments are posted in large type at the top of this thread. Is that not public view?

If government is not free to acknowledge GOD then the Constitution and the Bill of Rights mean nothing.

Government isn't free to do anything. Freedom implies rights. Government has no rights, it has limited, enumerated powers delegated by the people.

The proper question is then: Have the majority of the people the right to delegate powers to government to compel an unwilling minority of the people to fund a public forum for the promotion of religion?

I will let Mr. Jefferson answer that one:

"That to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves and abhors, is sinful and tyrannical; that even the forcing him to support this or that teacher of his own religious persuasion, is depriving him of the comfortable liberty of giving his contributions to the particular pastor whose morals he would make his pattern, and whose powers he feels most persuasive to righteousness..."
- Jefferson's Bill for Establishing Religious Freedom in the State of Virginia

That's true. It would be a shame someone should read that. I suggest sending all cash with "In God We Trust" to someone who would not be offended by it. Please address your envelopes to:

Paint them on the sides of churches and homes if you think that will help, rent billboards, rent walls on buildings, etc. Just don't use public facilities to do it. Quite simple, really.

In California, high school kids are forced to read the koran and a lot of mystical goddess garbage. A 7th grader we know was not allowed to read an essay she wrote aloud in class because she described her desk, which had a bible on it.

The God of athiesm shouldn't be acknowledged above all others.

I agree, and oppose atheist tracts from being posted on government property.

Let me know when there's a sign at the court house saying "There is no God". I'll go protest with you.

And they're being toasted alive over there. Go figure.

I think that the citizens could get some air conditioning in a school or public building, and move the infirm their to stay for the duration of the heatwave, to save lives.

NO ONE IS FORCED TO READ OR ABIDE BY IT (though it can be argued that they SHOULD).

In your opinion, what should be the penalty for worshipping false Gods?

Will violators get repeat offender status if they don't show up to church on the Sabbath?
