The Al Qaida Trickle Into Iraq Becomes a Flood

Al Qaida operatives and their allies are flooding Iraq.

Many of them are coming over unhampered from the border areas of Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

More than 1,000 Al Qaida operatives have entered Iraq just in the last three months.

Many other supporters have also entered Iraq.

These are not the young and unemployed looking for action.

These forces appear highly trained a disciplined.

The key here is to develope intelligence and a rapport with the local populace that want peace. They will then point out those who don't belong.

Really? And they've accomplished a couple of bombings and shootings? I'm hardly impressed.

I'd love for the terrorists to come running into the arms of our well armed, well trained military personnel! I hope this article is true, but I think it's exaggerated at best.

I too sometimes wonder just what 'highly trained' means to journalists, commentators, web publishers, etc.

We have been told for a decade that the Iraq Republican Guard was 'elite and highly trained.' They must be using seldom used definitions of those words, those that mean 'they cut and run, get shot at, surrender, etc.'

Elite highly trained Al Queda operatives? Like the shoebomber who overplayed his hand and hot ambushed? It takes imagination and a homicidal intent to bomb a hotel and kill a bunch of people eating brunch, but is it elite and highly trained?

I think, knowing the typical talking heads, that 'elite and highly trained' really means 'they can run 50 yards without their sides hurting, and without the need for oxygen.'

Highly trained apparently means they produce videos of themselves running around vacant buildings shooting at cardboard cut-outs.
