[history]
Listening to some Republicans and conservatives on the possibility of winning the California governorship lately has been dismaying. "We don't really want to win this race. California is in such a mess it can't be fixed and we will be tagged as failures if we try. Let the Democrats continue to stew in their mess." Or a variation on this theme: "Whoever wins will not have a mandate so he/she will not be able to govern, especially with the huge Democrat majorities in the California legislature."

I like cops as a rule. Two of my uncles were cops. But I bet you were assigned mostly to the Dunkin Donuts beat.

Ah, give me Neal Boortz any day, informative, funny and not a big radio self-ego strokeathon.

Maybe you should change your name to, say, Mr. Attention Deficit Disorder. He could probably say the same. He just told you he is a retired police officer. You may have to look up the word "jackanape" in the dictionary.

Speaking as an outsider maybe the best thing for all of us outsiders to do is to give those that are from California the benefit of the doubt as to whether a "real conservative" can win. They may know something we don't. Since even Texas has a problem electing a doctrinaire conservative I have my doubts but, what the hell, maybe the Simon fiasco was just an aberration and California is now ready to bite the bullet. The upside is huge and the downside is just the status quo. Good luck.

By the way, JJ, I told you Arnold's announcing today that he supports cutting taxes (car taxes). That seemed to disappoint you. You're really a lib, right?

Strangely, you couldn't be more wrong. Quid and I have been an online Punch and Judy act for years. I first came across him on Lucianne Goldberg's old forum.
Disturbingly, I find myself agreeing with him more and more often.

More cheap shots against Rush. Is that what you were known for on the force -- cheap shots? Or was it the way you gulped down two donuts and a tall coffee?
To: jjbrouwer
I take it that you played Judy?
To: holdonnow
Ah, the old "Liberal" insult. Last resort of the Rushlimboid.
No, I'm not a Liberal. I don't have a vote in America though I'm fairly impartial. Like the Queen, I stand aside from the political battle. (heh heh - cue cr*p joke.)

No, I was Punch. Quid was Judy but he was also the policeman who breaks things up at the end - so he had an unfair advantage.

Enough fun for one night, boys. Just remember, practice safe sex. Thank me.

Just remember, practice safe sex. Good advice. If only your... no - don't go there.
It's been a blast. Later.

Heed the old adage "It is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt."
I'm only trying to help you here because this thread isn't doing your image any good.

None of this decay is surprising. The left's promises of Nirvana never measure up. But what does surprise me are the reactions of some conservatives who see California's problems as so severe that they can't be solved by the application of conservative principles. Their thinking has led them to support Arnold Schwarzenegger, who, to my knowledge, has yet to embrace any conservative positions, though he has embraced Warren Buffett. Hasta la vista, whatever, I don't think there is a question as to whether a "true" conservative could fix the problems in CA .. they could and they would do a good job.
I think the question is whether a "true" conservative could get elected at this time with the political climate that CA is in now.
But only the voters in CA can answer that question

Central Scrutiniser: "Rush is this guy that used to be fairly interesting and entertaining back before he became ultra rich and got a trophy wife.""Nowadays, his biggest concern is not having to wait too long on the tarmac when his private jet takes him to a golf tournament. He is a classic "Limousine Conservative."
M-PI: "Your class-envy, victim-mentality is showing. This emotional weakness makes you a sitting duck for Marxist DemocRAT propaganda, by the way."
Central Scrutiniser:"Do you buy your hyperbole wholesale?"
It's no exaggeration to say that cynical opportunists can easily spot a victim-mentality evidencing emotional weaknesses like class-envy. Karl Marx wrote the play book that DemocRATS use on how to push the buttons of the ones he called, "useful idiots".

But only the voters in CA can answer that question That is the the real issue. I hope the conservatves in California do as good a job defeating the democrat as they do at defeating "rinos" this time.
