You're going to have to forgive folks for having the audacity to mention our border situation. Even after 09/11 our borders remain wide open. This bombing is yet another warning that what we are allowing to take place is suicidal. Most of us think about this a number of times per day, yet nobody in leadership thinks it's worthy of discussion, or correction. Frustration will lead people to address this topic constantly until it's fixed. I would advise you to damn the leaders who have refused to fix this, rather than those who constantly harp on the subject.

Sure it's the wrong thread. When is it the right thread? Folks get trashed for addressing this topic on "ANY" thread.

Huh? Relax D1. What I'm saying is, instead of saying no one will discuss the borders when it's brought up (which is what you stated), create a discussion thread TO discuss it. Our border situation may be part of the topic of terrorism as a whole. But it's also an issue of it's own.

I know what your assessment is. And I know where you stand. But don't get pissed when people don't want to discuss *your* topic because they don't feel it's related to the thread topic. For as many posts as I've seen about the border situation, I've only seen one thread of any substance/discussion about it- I believe Sabertooth had one of these last year.

Where did I say "no one will discuss the borders issue when it's brought up"?  What I said is that a few malcontents attack when ever and where ever it's brought up.

Why do I have to make a tie-in connection that you and just about every person on this forum are aware of?

The comments about our open borders should have drawn silent nods in affirmation. Instead they drew attacks. Why is that?

Are we pleading a case that is favorable to terrorism? Are we pleading a case that is favorable to socialism? Are we pleading a case that is favorable to US communitsts? Are we pleading a case that is favorable to the democrats?

We are pleading for our leadership to regulate our border crossings by humans and materials. The reason we do is because our neighbors, or fellow citizens will be subject to terrible acts of terrorism until we do so.

The attempt by you and others to drive folks off to some little corner of the forum to discuss this issue is abysmal. It is precisely moments like this, on threads like this, where reality will be brought to those who fail to see this issue in it's full import.

Why do I have to explain this to you?

Can you guys please email each other if you want to debate whether you should debate open borders? I'm cubicle-bound and am trying to follow this thread for new info about the bombing, and rather not have to sift through every other post in search of relevance. Thank you.

It's a little hard to have sympathy for a request like this, when all comment had died down conserning the periferal issue you mentioned. Why did you write this comment to perpetuate the comments you don't want to see?

I see how it is... when you don't have an answer to a question, just insult the one who asked it.

What do our open borders have to do with a bombing in Baghdad?

Nothing is the answer. They are two separate animals. One does not have to do with the other.

Now, let's address the last part of your post... where you vent your spleen on me because I'm not buying into your agenda...

Here we go,

Our open borders bear very heavily in the terrorist attacks I mentioned. And what's more, you know it.

They do more in the 9/11 attacks and less in the OKC attacks. (Since McVeigh, as an American citizen could come and go as he pleased) I do know that, but I'm talking specifically about today's attack and what's more, you know it.

And that's why I get so damned tired of addressing these issues to people who haven't the honesty to admit there is a serious problem.

You must not be talking to me or rintense because I think we are both in agreement that the borders should be closed and all illegal aliens should be deported post haste.

It seems to be more important to you to play dumb and take anyone to task who expresses consternation regarding our wide open frontier.

Are you consternated? You must be because you have resorted to name calling.

I'm not playing dumb about the borders. They are a real concern,(though sometimes you act as if you are the only one who realizes it and the rest of us don't) Express your consternation regarding our wide open frontier... you can even do it on this thread if you want. I don't care...

But my original post to you was what do our open borders have to do with a bombing in Baghdad. If you were honest, and not trying to promote your "border" agenda, you would have answered nothing, but I want to talk about borders. rintense and I would have become your amen corner.

But you didn't.

It also could be that they had a old score to settle with De Mello-- it seemed specifically geared towards him. He dates back a long way-- Lebanon, the Balkans and East Timor. Weren't the Islamists pissed about East Timor's independence from Indonesia? Maybe it was a gift to Hambali who just got arrested. Maybe it was a combination of the two and much else. These terrorist SOB's are constitutionally homicidal.

Anybody catch Bob Graham on CNN talking about this? I find it real grotesque that he would use such an atrocity to further his political aims. I think I am not alone in this--the Dems play partisan politics about national security at their peril, I hope it gets very dangerous for them.

Here's a link about al qaeda and East Timor. This might be why they killed De Mello today. Someone on the inside probably told the terrorists exactly where his office is and when he would be there. I guarantee you that many of the Iraqis that work at the UN ( some who probably worked there when Saddam was in power) have Baathist ties.

I stand corrected if it wasn't you who mentioned it. But my point still stands. Since so many people want to discuss the issue of our open borders as it relates to the war on terror, then start a discussion thread about it.

I think I have the DNC talking points pretty well laid out.

1) The bombing in Jerusalem will be Bush's fault, according to the DemonCraps, because Colin Powell hasn't been over there constantly for the last 3 months alternating between playing The Enforcer and holding everybody's hand. Hence, the roadmap hasn't worked because we didn't pay careful enough attention to it. That will be the first political spin.

2) The bombing in Baghdad of course, is because Bush's admin. failed in it's relationship with the UN in the first place and the military was lax in providing security to the UN though it really doesn't matter that the UN specifically didn't want a solid security perimeter around it's facility, it's still Bush's fault!!

On related matters, FOX commentator saying this event in Baghdad will make countries like India, etc. re-think sending support to Iraq.

And as was pointed out on another thread, there were several overseas attacks in the weeks building up to Sept.11. Be ready.

Or maybe, Iraqis killed him because he was in bed with the Shiite Mullahs in undermining a free Iraq and working against America in trying to rebuild Iraq.

Nothing is the answer. They are two separate animals. One does not have to do with the other.

Well, if you know the answer to your question, why ask me?  I didn't seek to make that connection.  You did.

Let me go real slow here.  Please point out where I stated our open borders had any bearing on the bombing in Bagdad.  I stated that bombing had bearing on our open border situation.  There is a difference, whether you are capable of making that distinction or not.

Now, let's address the last part of your post... where you vent your spleen on me because I'm not buying into your agenda...

I would remind you that closing our borders to reduce the threat of terrorism isn't "MY AGENDA".  It's the goal of millions of United States Citizens.  They happen to agree we have something worth protecting here.

Could the John Doe I mentioned?

And that's why I get so damned tired of addressing these issues to people who haven't the honesty to admit there is a serious problem.

You must not be talking to me or rintense because I think we are both in agreement that the borders should be closed and all illegal aliens should be deported post haste.

You know, I get a big kick out of folks who profess to agree with me, then attack anyone who supports that ideology in a place they don't approve of.

It seems to be more important to you to play dumb and take anyone to task who expresses consternation regarding our wide open frontier.

Are you consternated? You must be because you have resorted to name calling.

I'm not playing dumb about the borders. They are a real concern, (though sometimes you act as if you are the only one who realizes it and the rest of us don't) Express your consternation regarding our wide open frontier... you can even do it on this thread if you want. I don't care...

Oh really...

But my original post to you was what do our open borders have to do with a bombing in Baghdad. If you were honest, and not trying to promote your "border" agenda, you would have answered nothing, but I want to talk about borders. rintense and I would have become your amen corner.

Back to this again.  Incapable of comprending that my comments were directed at the Baghdad bombing's relevence to our open borders and not the other way around, you have sought to swerve this into never-never land.  No sale.

But you didn't.

Amen corner?
