According to a FN reporter (name escapes me), the Arab street was playing this 'surprisingly' straight.
Methinks the leaders have their own homegrown monsters to deal with (sort of like the DNC and their special interests).

Thank you for posting his assessment.
Far less smug towards the Coalition than he ususally is.
Maybe, just maybe, this will cause his arrogant, ungrateful little brain to get a clue.

Remember Clinton couldn't bother to take a phone call from Sandy Berger - with the military ready and waiting for a simple word from the CIC to act against a terrorist - a CIC who angrily refused - three times - to interrupt the golf tournament to answer the phone.NEVER, NEVER FORGET!

Seriously, talk about ingratitude. The only good thing that can come from an atrocity like this is the realization on the part of the Liberal, socialist, secular diplomatic class that the "militants" will go after them too.
Is Reuters referring to the monsters that did this as militants or terrorists? Maybe someone on here can find out for me.

you win the award for observing eyes. however, in arabic, they are calling the US terrible for this treatment, and many arabs would not even catch what you just caught.

Radical Islam is a DEATH CULT. We must face that undeniable reality.<<< And the most dangerous of the radical Islamic cults is the Wahabbi sect in Saudi Arabia. They will give no quarter in their quest to turn the world into an extremist Islamic mirror of themselves.
Simply put: we must kill thousands of them before they kill any more of ours! The US needs to implement its version of "Hama Rules" - that is where Assad of Syria killed 22,000 of his own subjects to root out a group in Hama that opposed his rule. Arabs just don't get the picture until the toll is massive.
I suggest that everyone read "Hatred's Kingdom" by Dore Gold. It details the Wahabbi influence and deviousness in the Middle East.....they are our prime enemy and they are a creation of Saudic Islamic clerics.

Oh ,Good Heavens, I was hoping we caught a break today. God help me, I am feeling really extreme this morning. They are lucky I am not in charge of the nuclear codes. God Bless Bush and his level-headed leadership. I get the sense that after 9-11, if I were Pres, many of the countries over there would look like parking lots.

Either that, or they have a taboo against women touching other women. Ok, that's probably giving them too much credit...

From BBC.co.uk (you knew it was only a matter of time before they started slinging mud): The BBC's Susannah Price reports from Baghdad "The UN knew it was a target... it had tried very hard to distance itself from the American operation"

Where's Charlie Gibson's bitching about Bush on vacation now, huh? This will be curious. They're going to have to do some pretty creative spinning...knowing that when they do diss our CIC, they PO the troops. So that's a little plus for the good guy team. (^:

I just heard another UN person in Iraq say they had decided not to have American soldiers guarding and was shocked that someone would attack the UN who only want to do good.I am shocked at the naivete.

An injured Iraqi walks outside of the United Nation
headquarters in Baghdad August 19, 2003. A massive
truck bomb ripped through the UN offices killing at
least three people and wounding scores, witnesses said.

The BBC's Susannah Price reports from Baghdad "The UN knew it was a target... it had tried very hard to distance itself from the American operation" She's probably correct in this. Just goes to show that nice intentions mean little when the other guy's willing to die to get you killed.
It always amazes me that some folks are always willing to believe that a nice demonstration of trust on their part will somehow convince the bad guys to suddenly play nice.

The photo appears to my eyes to be a petite soldier discreetly checking out a woman's chador.
I do believe it is an American female soldier. She's much smaller than the other two soldiers.
