People joke on many death related threads. You're right. There are a lot of insensitive clods about.

CNN Reporting: We've had word of many extremist terrorists crossing the border into Iraq and we can expect this kind of attack more often.
We want the terrorists to converge in one place, the place where the soldiers can kill them all. Culling the herd, so to speak.

Perhaps I'm being naive, but I think this would just inflame them more and lead to more viscious and "creative" revenge tactics.

No. I think they'll blame President Bush and turn tail and run.

You aren't missing anything on FNC and it's a good day to be television deprived. Amazingly, CNN is providing more even coverage.

Can't we add more defensive tactics?

No, I don't think it is feasible to take them out in one fell swoop... because, besides fighting terrorists that are spread out throughout the world, we have to fight the states that sponsor them. Iraq was a good start. Shoring up a command center in Qatar was a good start. Pulling our troops out of Saudi Arabia will be a good start.
Iran, Syria, Libya, the PA, Yemen, Sudan, Egypt, and the Saudis will all have to follow suit. Does it mean invasion? Maybe, maybe not.
But, we take them out... we track them down... when they regroup, we meet them and defeat them. We install democracies... we open their borders for the Gospel (the only real weapon against Islam)... and, if we have to, we play the biggest game of wack-a-mole ever played. They show their heads and we squash them. No mercy. As Stonewall Jackson said, "Raise the black flag!" It means kill them all until they realize they will not win. I don't care how long it takes. Relentless pursuit...

CNN reports no one has died. At least that they can confirm.

I wanted to smack him when he said (paraphrasing): "Reminds me of listening to speeches by Lyndon Johnson and Richard Nixon..."
This coordinated bit of the Democrats' is so transparent. If FNC was covering a carnival in Iraq they'd still be trying to drop this 'Nam reference.

Let's do a double blind control test, then. Initially activate these counter-terrorist measures, say, in Afghanistan against remaining elements of the Taliban (that are captured), vs. Iraq where we don't do it. After two months, we may detect a pattern of whether it is successful or not, or whether it invites retribution. I am placing my money on the outcome that it would be seriously, deadly seriously, EFFECTIVE. That it would be the only thing many of those animals would understand and respect and fear.

This attack could be an important element of what goes on in the future. The UN has said we're not going to surround ourselves with barbed wire like the Americans have. FNC is saying there was not very good security around the UN compound and that before the war you couldn't get a car near it.
Why the big change of security from the UN?

Many thanks for figuring out who I was referring to. This IMAD FAYEZ MUGNIYAH guy is very bad news. Could be this Islamokazi demon behind today's UN bombing or some other guerrilla cell looking for bragging rights. The terrorism scene in Iraq reminds me of Beverly Hill Cop where the grizzled old detective says, "Everyone's a freelancer these days"I knew who you meant, but I couldn't remember how his name was spelled either :-))
They're ALL bad news, and they're working together, more cooperatively (I'm thinking the Hamas/Islamic Jihad/Al Aqsa type cooperation) than having a military-like structure.

This car bomb was to drive a wedge between the UN and us. Look for the UN to pull out of Iraq. Whoever did this wants to slow the reconstruction.............
That's my logic. This is the net effect. But hitting the UN can simply be a terrorist mafia on a quest for glorification unto Allah, looking for bragging rights, thus bombing the most vulnerable major target.

Nadler's an abomination, but Maj. Bevelacqua (sp) was making some excellent points, especially about the lack of stand-of from the building. Guess the UN thought they were immune.
