Chaos and cannibalism under Congo's bloody skies

'The soldiers had red eyes, and they were singing and dancing. They slaughtered the priest, cut him to pieces, removed his heart and liver and cooked them. The rest of the group had to pay money or eat the human flesh to be allowed to leave. Another four men, three women and three children were killed.' Among the dead was a pregnant woman who was gutted.
In Congo for the past 50 years tales of cannibalism have been apocryphal. Today they are a norm - what better way to sow terror into the hearts of your enemies than to instil the fear that they could be eaten?

I blame the Belgians. They ruled this, this, place and they left it this way. I'm in favour of putting up a fence around the place.. I would agree if the place we fence and bomb with napalm is Belgium.

W AAfr is a gadforsaken land. Then it needs the gospel to be less "god forsaken."

What I meant was that the Belges were the worst kind of colonizers, destroying tribal affiliations, resources etc. just to get their grubby hands on loot, no better than pirates. However, note the past tense -- they WERE. Right now they're a has been.
However, The congolese rebels are no longer human, they're dnagerous.

Lord of Darkness.......
You can't tell a book just by looking at the cover.
I never read or saw that paperback edition. Jazzed up romance novel cover. It's a great book. If you get it from your local library you won't be disappointed.

Something about the way colonialism ended was terribly fouled up. I would argue that many African nations should again be subdued, and then, developed, educated, democratized, and then gradually released to a real independence. The task will require more money than the American people will be willing to spend, and cost more lives than we will tolerate losing. Remember Somalia?

The alternative: "Let loose the dogs of war."
Or wait until chaos reigns. At that point, someone will come in to pick up the pieces anyway.
Travis McGee says it will be the Chinese. Others want to be the one to "help" when chaos has become so bad that nothing remains but a void.

My prediction is that the Chinese are going to slowly begin "aiding" Africa. By 2050 there will be more Chinese settlers in Africa than Africans, and by 2100 there will be no Africans at all in Africa. That's my speculation, too. Africa has the resources, China has cash, excess people, and a government which doesn't care that much if it has to kill a bunch of people in order to achieve its objectives.
As you predict, the pattern will be a large influx of "aid", "aid workers" to administer the aid, and troops to protect the "aid workers". The Chinese will be able to buy off the corrupt leaders in exchange for official permission to come in. After there are ten million Chinese troops there, they will just kill any Africans who annoy them, and put birth-control drugs in the food of the rest.
If anything, I think the task will be accomplished much more quickly than your timeline. More like by 2030.

what makes you think Africans will allow Chinese to settle their continent, let alone take it over... there are not many races that get along very well, and that goes for the Asians and the Africans as well.... What makes you think that the opinions of the Africans in the street will matter?
Do you think that the "leadership" in Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe, or a bunch of other places will turn down $100M in an overseas bank account in exchange to issuing official permission for Chinese "aid workers" to come in?
The whites in South Africa and Zimbabwe had the place conquered despite being outnumbered 10-20 to 1.
The drunken/drugged-up teens with AK's that comprise most of the "armies" of Africa are pretty good at terror. Resisting trained and disciplined troops who DO NOT CARE if they have to exterminate the populace in order to pacify the area is another story

The alternative: "Let loose the dogs of war." Or wait until chaos reigns. At that point, someone will come in to pick up the pieces anyway. The problem is that the expedition would be a money-loser for the US, but a money-maker for the Chinese. They can just wait until we run out of money for such adventures in do-good-ism
Africa is a wonderful place -- it has unique wildlife and abundant natural resources. The whites who settled in South Africa and Rhodesia could have exterminated the blacks like the American settlers came close to doing with the Native Americans. They didn't because the blacks were a cheap source of labor. The Chinese, should they come in, will not need the blacks as a cheap source of labor -- they have their own people.
The Chinese settlement of Africa will be more along the lines of the British settlement of the US

i wish this was a joke. it's difficult to believe that these kinds of horrors exist. As they did in Idi Amin's Uganda, as when one of his ex-CIA advisers and weapons supliers joined him in eating the liver of one of his former adversaries.
Ah, the things businessmen have to go through to clinch a sale. But dinner with a client isn't usually that distasteful a chore....

I had a blind pal of mine looking for some excitement in his life, so I gave him a cheese grater for his birthday.
He said it was the most violent thing he had ever read.

It seems everywhere the UN goes, the situation degenerates rapidly. One day people are going to realize the UN is the problem, not the solution.
The UN also had a couple of its own people eaten a few months back, before the Nigerian and other troops arrived.
Shortly thereafter, the UN declared it a *war crime* to kill a UN employee/agent. That presumably includes eating them. But I suspect that won't end their little problem.

I'm surprised our "diversity" immigration program isn't bringing a bunch of these people into the USA and getting them welfare and food stamps.
