250 MILF rebels surrender

Two hundred forty one active members and nine commanders of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) abandoned the armed struggle for a separate Muslim state in Mindanao and formally pledged allegiance to the government yesterday.

The ceremony was held at headquarters of the 4th Infantry division at Camp Edilberto Evangelista, in Cagayan de Oro City.

Major Gen. Cristolito Balaoing, commander of the 4th Infantry "Diamond" Division, said the rebels also turned over to the government 140 high-powered firearms, including five 60 mm mortars and two 40 mm M-79 grenade launchers.

According to Balaoing, the rebels who surrendered to the military by batches previously operated in Lanao del Norte and Cotabato City.

Balaoing said the MILF rebels surrendered to the military even before the government and the MILF agreed to reconvene for formal peace negotiations. The surrender was part of back-channeling efforts facilitated by Malacañang.

Among the prominent commanders who yielded to the authorities last June 15 was Commander Guiling Lucsadatu, alias Lucky 7, of the Bangsa Moro Islamic Armed Forces (BMIAF), whose men were operating in Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur.

Lucsudatu brought along with him his loyal followers including 44 firearms and explosives ranging from caliber .30 Garand rifles to carbines.

A relative, Commander Mudski, reportedly the major combatant and strike force of MILF leader Commander Axapala, and his loyal followers also surendered to Army troops.

Late last month, MILF leader Amano Gachalia, alias "Aman", along with his 15 field commanders and their firearms also surrendered to Army authorities in Lanao del Norte. Gachalia has served the MILF leadership for seven years.

In Lanao de Sur, Balaoing said that another batch of 31 MILF rebels headed by Commander Mosib Rama, MILF’s 501st Brigade Division commander, yielded to the Army authorities in the area.

In Cotabato City, 25 MILF rebels under Commander Tony Sumilalao Sapalon and MILF’s Brigade Commander Dante Dindo Adal, also yielded to the government troops and turned in 25 high-powered firearms on June 24 to Maj. Gen. Generoso Senga, Army Commander of the Army’s 6th Infantry Division.

We're playing at pacificpoker.com - its a nice interface, up to ten players per game and unlimited resets on fake money, but unfortunately, there's a $40 limit per bet/raise. You're kind of screwed if you're so far down you have to go all in.

CP is talking about standard online poker. A bet or blind must be placed prior to raising and there is no "all in".

The raises are increments of the bet . On 20/40, 20 dollar bets or raises in the pocket or on the flop. You can also straddle the blinds if you feel froggy. After the flop, then it goes to 40.

I realize that some house games have some nuances that alter that a little and that in world series poker, all in is the big difference....Devilfish, Johnny Chan and that gang but that's like comparing Chuck Yeager to a Cub pilot.

The friendly real world games I play never allow all in. Some guy gets a streak and he can wipe out everyone or if he has a huge stake then he has a huge advantage. We always set limits and usually mimic the same rules as the online sites more or less.

How do you raise a check other than simply betting? A raise is made on a bet by it's nature.

It helps to be able to study the players behavior (tells) first. I love it when I get nuts and have 2 or 3 maniacs playing. I'm going to get their money.

In a tight game, you have to buy a flop or turn with crap on occasion or everyone will run when you get aggressive.

What I hate is when I bet and raise to the hilt with a great hand that is odds on nuts and somebody pulls the rabbit out of the hat with that one card that gave him the nuts and me knowing the whole time that it was possible yet maybe only a 1-20 chance of it. Those sting and it's worse when it comes from a rabid player.

You know Grizzle knocked Phil out last year in a brawl after the game. They both deserve each other. Helmuth whines a lot. Grizzle knows how to rattle him. Ivey is good but young...he has a big future.

I still like Johnny Chan...modesty. I like Devilfish too...he is very sharp.

At that level...they are all incredible masters of calculating odds at every stage. They routinely fold pockets you and I would play. But they also really push hard with the big four pockets...and a fair amount of bluffing. They also really play the blinds...something we novices hardly pay attention to.

I saw Helmuth wax Grizzle a few weeks ago. The funny thing is that an amateur who gets the cards can and does beat these guys. It's not chance that the best make it to the last few tables but it is purely luck on top of that to win it all.....very hard to repeat a World Series win. I think Chan and one other have done that since 1984.
