Terri (Schiavo) Hospitalized
The Terri Schindler-Schiavo Foundation | August 15, 2003

Posted on 08/15/2003 10:40:56 AM PDT by NautiNurse

Terri was admitted to Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida on Wednesday, August 13th. Hospice did not notify Terri's family of this and they did not find out until almost 24 hours later of their daughter's whereabouts. Michael Schiavo has given instructions not to discuss Terri's condition with her family. We will update this as soon as we know more.

Glenn Beck brought this up during his radio broadcast this morning.

My son has lived with all the bells and whistles to keep him alive for 24yrs and just told his Doc the other day he hopes to live to be 100.

He has lived an active life more so than some without any disablility and plans on continueing to do so.

Maybe your personal view of the severly disabled is something that you need to address while reflecting in privacy.

Each and everyone of us has the right to life if we choose it.

I know a lot of disabled people and they do not wish to die.

Those who feel as you do have your choice too. Pretty simple.

I'm a 100% pro-life conservative Christian.

And you support her death? You have a skewed view of "pro-life" then, kind of like the dems who say they are for a woman's right to choose.

So you know, huh? I think people talk about this alot. I think the majority of people would not want to be kept alive like this...let me ask you ... would you want to be kept alive like this?

Yes, if the money was available. There could be a day when medical science helps people that are paralyzed. Who is to say that she does not have a right to live her life just becase she is paralyzed. Her husband claims he is doing this for her but don't be fooled. His only interest in her is to have the money that was supposed to go to her medical treatment.

What do you do to care for a loved one when afflicted with a severe flu?

If you did nothing that person could die from dehydration.

Do you ever care for loved ones who are ill?

Ever clean up after someone you love has the flu?

Cook a nice home made soup?

Offer sips of 7up?

Wipe a forehead?

Has anyone taken care of you when ill or post surgical ect?

That would be severly disabled and medically fragile.

You think it's LOVE to keep someone alive like this...I think it's cruel and inhumane.

When you love someone - really love someone you want to keep them alive as long as there is there is life. Terri is not in pain - she is not suffering from an incurable disease. She is alive. The parents love her and have hope for her. The money was awarded so that she could continue to live and possibly benefit from sceientific breakthroughs.

The one person who absolutely has no love for Terri is her husband. Do some research on this case and find what kind of treatment he has provided Terri in the last decade. It is criminal what this man has gotten away with. What really irks me is the way he claims that he is doing this out of love for Terri. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

I was away from the thread all day and sorry I missed this. It looks like the newbie who believes his perspective is Christian, is away, but I hope he comes back. I hope he is not a troll, give him the benefit of the doubt for now.

Here is a guy's perspective:

I was really steamed at first reading here, but now am settled down.

Perhaps he doesn't have the capacity to understand or the experience and we have seen plenty of otherwise well meaning people over the years who just don't get it and never may.

One can kibbitz and pontificate from afar, but once facing such a person and interacting with the person, one must decide to recognize the soul looking back or to reject it.

Here on FR, one can just wander off to another thread.

I watched that video of Terri. Our son died at the same age and was in worse condition than Terri all his life. We recognize the look we lived with for 26 years and over the years we witnessed the effect his pure soul had on otherwise hardened hearts like that of the newbie.

A few short years ago, that look transformed a medical doctor who left his practice and dedicated his life to working in Catholic institutions and camps with people like our son. He sincerely believes our son is a saint and prays accordingly. Our son changed the doctor's direction in life, did that with less ability than we witnessed on the tape of Terri.

Like Terri, by his condition, he brought out the best human emotion in some and flushed out the otherwise hidden dark side in others.

We are grateful to God that He allowed us 26 years to care for this precious life and soul.

Over the years, we fought governments and well meaning functionaries who would have gladly terminated our son's life if they could. In fact in the few times he was in hospital care facility, we were amazed at how many would have pulled the plug and even tried to. But they were more amazed at how outraged a father can become real quick.

We never asked for nor expected extraordinary measures to keep his little body alive, but fought like banshees to protect what he had. And we are so thankful we did. It would have been so easy at times to just turn our backs as we had seen with our son's contemporaries time and again. We have watched these little helpless people wilt and die like picked flowers once the love and charity of their family cut off. Too bad for all the families lost at cutting this cord. At least the kids weren't starved to death.

Not only is the painful starving to death of a precious soul of God murder, but it is of a despicable kind, the taking of life so dependent upon us for charity.

A beautiful story--thank you for sharing.

In this throw-away, disposable world, it is heart warming to hear of selfless devotion and to know you did everything within your power to make your son's time on this earth as good as it could be.

I hope that more people can one day know the precious gift that your son gave to you.

I will join you in prayer for this lady and her family. I am appalled at this after reading the articles in the link you provided. May God keep her safe until someone can stop this horrific medical homicide.

No, I am not from Oregon. No one can truly understand this story better than someone like yourself who has lived through it. I can only imagine how difficult it must be have been for you. My heart goes out to you and to Terri's parents. Michael Schiavo has a child and I often wonder how he would feel if someone was doing the same thing to him that he is doing to Terri's parents.

We once lived near Blue River in Oregon, that is why I asked.

I really cannot understand how persons like Michael Schiavo can partition their minds into selective denial. Some might simply be in denial, some may be truly evil. Not for me to judge, though, I think I have dealt with plenty of both.

Terri and her parents are the ones who need lots of prayers now.

Post #60 is yet another reason you don't know what the hell you're talking about, Lurker.

It's not that she CAN'T swallow. Swallow Studies have been prohibited because (get this) she might choke to death. I worked with people like her for 16 years, and such a decision is not just irrational (the alternative is to use the excuse that she can't swallow on her own to starve her to death) it is not supported by standard practice. Frankly, tube-feeding or swallowing isn't a substantive distinction anyway. The point is, her "husband" and a few liberal judges have gone out of their way to destroy the legal firewall between difficult life-conditions and actual brain-death.

This country must not allow a legal system which has been complicit in denying this woman any chance at recovery to murder her in the most painful and prolonged way.

Life is either sacred or elitists can decide who can live and who must die. And I'm an Atheist, so put away your broad, flimsy brush.

He is trying to murder his wife for her money. People like him do not have a conscience. Pure self interest to the extreme.
