Hannity station went dead for about 20 seconds. Said he had never seen anything like it.

Reporting the entire city of Cleveland down...... How could they tell?
You are baaaaaaad!
Thanks, Allegra. It could be worse, we could live in a place like West Virgina....or "regular" Virginia, same difference. >:)
I was almost home when it went out and some of the neighbor women were outside. I went in the house, popped back out and told them briefly that I had power :snicker:. Then went to the bar.....most area bars have almost no windows we have big ones...and large coolers kept very cold. Both paid off yesterday and the place was still rather busy when I left. >:)
It came back on at home at 6:10am. At work it came on about 20 min after we had already cancelled first shift.

There is an underwater cable running from Long Island to Connecticut, the enviros have been fighting its activation. Pataki got the DOE to activate it this AM.
I am listening to a live press conference on Long Island news from Richard Kessel, LIPA chairman. He doesn't sound too optimistic, says there will be more power outages today across the grid. Asking everyone to turn everything off, asking businesses to close.

Oh Great .. FNC has a defense lawyer on saying that lawsuits are required on what happen

Across the affected region, so the same places already affected. He is mostly focusing on Long Island, but making some general statements. But at least they can get some power from Connecticut now. He is calling additional blackouts "likely" across the affected region, that is the word he is using.

Sitting here in my office just now, we had a dip in the power. Tripped a couple of the UPS' and came right back. Hmmm.

"FNC has a defense lawyer on saying that lawsuits are required "Nothing like lawyers to suck the energy out of the country. It's the L-Bomb. Domestic terrorists.

The cell towers work quite differently, regular land lines are the ones that have a battery backup, the fast busy you were probably getting was due to swamped phone lines, the fiber optic networks probably took a blip or two as a result of this until the phone co's offices got their generators online, and those run everywhere, cell towers might be the last of your phone service to come back on dependant on if that tower has generator backup or not

Canada would be CRAZY to use US-generated power, as almost all Canadian power is hydro--the cheapest known to man.
Conversely, Richardson's DOE and the GreenWeenie crowd have done their damndest to force the USA to use natural gas instead of nukes or coal.
If you think electricity is expensive now, wait until the nukes cannot get renewal licenses and we run out of domestically-produced natural gas, which is beginning to happen now....

Uh-oh.
The state of NY has just ordered load shedding of power across all utilities. Here come the rolling blackouts, Long Island must drop 46 megawatts.
