McClintock should simply get out of the race & back Arnold.
Well, it's early yet. Let's see how he and Arnold do. If McClintock's still trailing badly shortly before the election, then I tend to believe he and Arnold will find him a face-saving way to back Arnold, possibly in return for a budget czar position.

I believe so - it was in a quite elegant country club (I really liked the modern design with the nice glass windows and view) and they allegedly raised $25k for his campaign.
I took a few pictures - if there's interest, I'll post 'em.

You're assuming that he'll get 5% because of one stupid poll two months before the election?
That's idiotic.
X-Zactly...neophyte Bill Simon with his 9% will NEVER...EEEEEEVVVVER catch experienced-politician Dickie Riordan with his 49%. [grins]

The Gray One said on Bill Maher the other night that the budget bill recently passed by the Legislation represented a "balanced budget" with a "modest reserve." Of course, Maher is too ignorant and unprepared to know the truth. The truth being that to balance the budget, Gray and the Legislature had to borrow $10 billion against next year's budget, which means that the state is already $10 billion in the hole as of June 30, 2004.
The Gray One, in saying that the state budget was "balanced" and has a "modest reserve" is like someone saying that they owe $20,000 on their MasterCard account, but that they made the minimum payment this past month, and they still have an unused credit amount of $1000 before they max the card out.

I think that is an example of why Tom McClintock is opposed to a two-year budget plan. Way too many opportunities for monkey business.
Good analogy with the credit card example! I am not a financial person so I need all the analogies I can get.

Now is the time to write a letter to the editor to your local newspaper, or call in to your local radio show and tell them that Bustamante and the Democrats are doing nothing more than raising taxes to continue their Sacramento spending spree!
McClintock: Stop Majority Vote Tax Increases
Leader of drive to abolish States Car Tax says Democrats are feeling the heat, but California families are feeling the pain
Senator Tom McClintock on Tuesday blasted the new Bustamante plan to raise over $4 BILLION of new taxes with a majority vote of the state legislature. "This is just another shell game by the big-spending Democrats so they can raise more taxes to continue their Sacramento spending spree."
After Governor Davis took action in June to illegally triple the states car tax, Senator McClintock filed a Constitutional Amendment to completely abolish this tax with the California Attorney General. Title & Summary for this measure is due at any time and over twenty thousand people have already signed up to circulate petitions.
"If the Democrats in this state now agree with me that this is the most regressive and abusive tax on the books, then they can simply vote to place my amendment on the March ballot and we can let the people of California vote to end this tax once and for all," said Senator McClintock.
Since the governors tripling of the car tax amounts to a $4 BILLION tax increase, the Democrats are planning a suspicious "tax swap" strategy to raise other taxes by a simple majority vote claiming the action is not a tax increase.
"What the legislature giveth with a majority vote, the legislature can take away with a majority vote," warned Senator McClintock. "In 2001 the Democrats promised permanent relief from the car tax and they quickly took that away this year. Democrats now want to lower it next week so they can raise other taxes, and then they will claim the right to raise it right back in January with another majority vote."
"The only way to provide real relief for California's working families is to pass the Constitutional Amendment that abolishes the car tax once and for all," concluded Senator McClintock.
