2 U.S. Fliers Die in S. Korea Plane Crash
29 minutes ago
SEOUL, South Korea - A U.S. military transport plane crashed Tuesday south of Seoul, the U.S. military said. South Korean police said two Americans on board died.
The C-12 Huron, a small turboprop plane, went down at 2:43 p.m. seven miles southwest of Camp Humphreys, a U.S. base, the military said in a written statement.
"Status of personnel is not known at this time," it said.
But South Korean police Lt. Sung Yol-gap said two Americans on the plane died. Speaking by telephone from Asan, a town near the crash site, he said he did not know if there were others on board. He said there were no casualties on the ground.
Sung said the plane crashed in a rice paddy near a restaurant and plowed through garlic patches into a storehouse, destroying a chicken coop, a tractor and other farming implements. The building caught on fire.
Some 37,000 U.S. troops are stationed in South Korea, a legacy of the 1950-53 Korean War.

Very sad news. Apparently, one of the pilots was the son of an old friend of my husband's.

One of the pilots killed in that plane crash was Capt. Kevin Norman, 30, of Sonoma, CA. He was an extremely close friend of our group of five. He was a brother and will be missed. He is survived by his wife Capt. Brandi Norman, mother Laurie, brother Sean, sister Colleen, and father Tim. Thanks for all of your prayers!
