U.S. military plane crashes in South Korea; two reported killed

SEOUL, South Korea (AP) -- A U.S. military transport plane crashed Tuesday south of Seoul, the U.S. military said. It said it had no word on whether there were casualties, but a South Korean news agency said the two Americans on board died.

The C-12 Huron, a small turboprop plane, went down at 2:43 p.m. seven miles southwest of Camp Humphreys, a U.S. base, the military said in a statement.

"Status of personnel is not known at this time,'' it said.

The Yonhap news agency said the plane crashed near a restaurant, but there were no immediate reports of anyone on the ground being injured.

Yonhap said the bodies of the victims were taken to a hospital.

Local fire and rescue crews were at the site.
