California Republican Assembly gives overwhelming support to Senator McClintock over last year's pick
Burbank Senator Tom McClintock on Sunday received the endorsement of the California Republican Assembly (CRA) for his candidacy for governor in the October 7 recall election.
The CRA is the oldest and largest Republican grassroots organization that played a key role in last years come from behind victory in the Republican primary. The endorsement was at a special endorsement vote of the California membership during the convention National Republican Assemblies held this past weekend at the Burbank Hilton.
"The California Republican Assembly has consistently been in the trenches working to bring Californias bureaucracies back under control, and roll back the regulations and taxes that are choking our economy," said Senator McClintock. "The endorsement of the CRA provides a great boost to my campaign. The grassroots will be instrumental in getting out the vote in the upcoming election."
Senator McClintock has spent 20 years in the public policy arena fighting for fiscal reform. Last fall he received more cross-over Democratic votes, more independent votes and more total votes than any other Republican on the ballot. He also received 103,000 more votes in his run for Controller in November 2002 than the Republican top of the ticket.
Senator McClintocks campaign for Governor will focus on rescinding the tripling of the car tax, voiding the $42 billion in outrageously overpriced electricity contracts and reforming the workers compensation system.

The point is, and if you don't care, G-d love you, that it has been reported that there are people from the various campaigns trying to stir things up here at FR.
I think we all can take note of that.
To: DrMartinVonNostrand
Yep! Unfortunately, conservatives aren't the only voters, they aren't even the majority of voters. Tom won't win this one, and is only helping the Demorats keep the governorship.

"Conservatives Say McClintock is Their Man!" ... Says McClintock.

The point is, and if you don't care, G-d love you, that it has been reported that there are people from the various campaigns trying to stir things up here at FR. And you don't think that inflamatory keyword garbage that was posted isn't "stirring things up"?

Maybe you'd know who Tom McClintock is if you weren't from Gary Locke/Patty Murray/Maria Cantwell's home state.

How do you know who posted the keywords? Those same keywords show up on every thread in which bandwagon Arnie supporters show up on.
This sort of nasty crap is counter-productive if we're to win.

Right, but it could also be McClintock supporters doing it.

Do a find in forum for the illustrious Dr VanNostrand.
He's been posting ANTI-McClintock stuff before today.
Now he's posting PRO-McClintock material.
MAYBE he's trying to show both sides.
OR maybe he's trying to stir things up.
You decide.

This news at least makes clear why Simon should get out (heck, never should have gotten in) and throw support to McClintock, Arnold or both.
McClintock is a great guy. I hope he either wins or ends up serving as Arnold's "budget czar," although I suspect the state's lefty electorate may only allow the latter to happen.

I know who McClintock is and he's a legit conservative. But being from NY like yourself we know that principle doesn't win elections. Futhermore, being a card-carrying conservative in a blue state is like carrying a signed execution order.
The only state that is more infested than NY in terms of the pseudo-pinko culture is CA. No way a man like Reagan ever gets voted into any statewide office again because the counter-culture rules out there. It has been dripping south from SanFran since the 60's.
I understand that Arnold is by no means a conservative and can only be compared to Reagan by his movie career. But the bigger picture here is that with him as Gov., the state comes into play for 2004 and beyond. If he sticks to his fiscal guns and puts the state right, the GOP won't simply write the state off anymore. Even if he agreed with the abortion plank, no way he would change the killing-culture anyway. My point is that even if McClintock is the "right guy", he's the wrong guy for CA now and forever. I wish it weren't so but CA is one F'ed up place.
There is a time for one to stand up for principle and there is a time for one to bide his time and wait for the moment.
The latter is one of those times.

You are an idiot.
I haven't posted anything anti-McClintock. I have posted PLENTY that is anti-Simon. I have also made pro-Arnold posts. I just found this bit newsworthy. My point has been all along that McClintck has the grassroots support, Simon has none. His own action committee has asked him not to run. He is lying when he gets on TV and claims people everywhere want him to run. He knows damn well he's not wanted. That's why he doesn't have a website or email available.
I just want Simon to go away for good. No one has to pay me to feel that way.

I haven't posted anything anti-McClintock. I have ... made pro-Arnold posts.An election is either/or. How can a pro-Arnold post be anything but an anti-McClintock post?
Maybe you should consult with collegue, Art Vandelay... ;-)
To: TheDon
I can see why you would think that at first glance, but actually, McClintock is our biggest asset. Arnold will win the replacement election no problem, but it will be McClintock that gets the vote out to pass the Davis recall. No recall, no Arnold.
Simon on the other hand is only going to legitimize the Democrats' claims of sour grapes, election stealing, sore losers, ect. This will only energize the Democrats' anti-recall base. Then in the replacement race Simon will steal votes from McClintock and Arnold.
Finally if Simon were to actually win after just losing to Davis, then Bush is finished in California for 2004. Bush won't be able to win in a liberal state where the Republicans just "overturned another election". Plus having the newly elected Republican Governor recalled himself within a month of assuming office will not help the party locally or nationally. Simon would GUARANTEE that.
As it is Simon's mere presence is hurting both the recall and Bush right now.
