If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. Hes the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.
Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2 long.
Hes a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that hes starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.
I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious
and this is her reply
A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.
On a personal note, Ive read the emails daily from my friend. Ive known her for years, Ive heard her talking about her family for years
but Ive got to tell you that Im SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.
Father God, we lift up Logans little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until hes grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus Name, Amen
Fellow Freepers
.I bring you Logan!!!

Thanks so much for the update. Baby steps and lots of prayers seem the order of the day. Logan, sweetheart, you are loved, may God your Father give you all the strength you need.

Dear NMGA:
My baby fought only some of Logan's battles, certainly not all. She was 32 weeks, but already 4 lbs. 15 oz and 18" inches long. She wasn't due till the first week of January, but I hemmoraghed just a few days before Thanksgiving and we had to do an emergency c-section because I had a 30% abruption of my uterus and the sac was detaching. An injury I sustained earlier in the pregnancy had torn the ligments supporting both sides of my uterus, and under the weight of my advancing pregnancy, it just shredded.
They told us to expect to take her home in January; thankfully, she was with us by the end of November.
By God's grace, she is almost two, 26 lbs., 34" tall, climbs like a monkey and talking up a storm. You would never know she was a preemie.
Logan, if I recall correctly, was only 26 weeks at birth, and weighed significantly less. Those weeks make a HUGE difference. Lung development in critical, and the younger the baby, the less developed they are. Preemie girls tend to be stronger at birth than preemie boys, so it does not surprise me (given these many variables) that Logan is still in the hospital, fighting to come home.
My heart breaks, too, because I know personally that every day can be agonizing. You are charting progress in percents, in fractions of an ounce, in such tiny measures. You call the hospital at midnight, at 3:00 a.m., anytime you aren't there. And you cry...you cry a lot, because you feel so damn helpless and you love that baby so much. I remember even trying to make an insane "bargain" with God, asking Him to take a few years off my own life if it would give my daughter the strength to come home. Maybe He took me up on my offer; I'll know someday, I'm sure.
I'm not giving up on Logan, you are correct. And there is nothing wrong with feeling that ache in your chest. How can one not? Such love, such courage, from one so young, and from those who hold him so dear, would move many hearts.
More prayers on the way! God, give Logan strength! We are pulling for you, little guy!

Your boy and family are in my prayers. The medical situation there.......the wait, as though it were some socialist country.......is just another reason I am not anxious to go back to California any time soon. I am sorry you have to wait. That's not right.

I hope it won't be too long. The reason I was given is that even at these wonderful 3 world class children's hospitals around here, they only do the
sedated pediatric MRI's one day a week. They need an anesthesiologist present.
Socialism? What is even worse than socialism is that with our good insurance from DH's job, we will still pay 20%, of course, which might be fairly costly for us since we live on one income so I can be home with the kids, but if the child of an illegal needs one, s/he will get it for FREE. Yep, it actually PAYS to crawl across the border. Sigh. In a socialist country, we would wait weeks, the doctor would be able to make any mistakes he felt like without recrimination, but we would all pay about the same for our lousy service. Here, they stick it to the middle, taxpaying, class.

Little baby, such a busy day ... so many grown up things going on around you, but you know all of it is for you ... you're special, you really are, and you have a very special Mom and Dad and Nana ~ but you know, sweet Logan, the most Special of all is Your Creator God, and we talk to Him just like we talk to you, and we thank Him for you, and we tell him how much we want to see you growing over the years ~
But for now, little one, rest in the love of Jesus, and until you can sing these words yourself, let us softly sing to you and your roommates, and if we're off key a bit, the angelic choir will fill in ...
Jesus loves me, this I know ... For the Bible tells me so ... Little ones to Him belong ... They are weak, but He is strong ... Yes, Jesus loves me ~ Yes, Jesus loves me ~ Yes, Jesus loves me, the Bible tells me so.
Your buddy, Tonk, has it right ... God loves you and so do we.

I hear you. It really is deflating. The thought of California giving free college educations to the illegals ....oh, it's just insane.
Prayers are sent to your family. I hope everything goes well and you find out what is going on very quickly.

Okay so I decide to go to bed. I am really out of it , right? Well I crawl in bed and the lights are off and my children are asleep. what do you think happens? Well my feet are cold so.... I have to get some socks , right. Well, I figure I need the really warm ones that I left in the TV room, right.. So I just happen to go by one the computers, and I decide to make sure it is working alright, right? So, I sit down and I figure I will just do one more quick check .. you know, Logan may need me, I should probably look. So here I am checking for an update.
I thought I had my kids to blame for not getting sleep... but no .. it is you I have to blame for posting those beautiful photos, those photos of Logan.
Good night and thank you. Good night freepers, and Logan and little children in NICU. All of the children who we have prayed for. Good night to Logan's crew. I hope we all wake rested and full of promise for the new day. Full of the hope that has been given to us from Logan and his family.

UPDATE FROM NANA!!
LOGAN IS AWAKE!
Our little baby has finally surfaced from that deep anesthesia induced sleep he's been in for the last two days!
He's not fully alert yet, but he does open his beautiful little eyes!
He's got a tremendous amount of crud in his lungs that they're trying to clear.
They're using a precussion machine on his little back to loosen it up, then they suction it out.
Nana said he really likes that!
I'm not as good at this as Nana. I can't remember anything else.
The main thing is that HE IS BETTER!
He's got a long way to go, friends, but he's on the way!
Thank you, God!
Thank you, freepers!
and thank you to those who take care of these little ones!

Way to go baby Logan!
I've been praying you'd pull thru this "skirmish" also and you did!
Your "Uncle TC" needs to get some campaign ribbons for your past "battles."
(you can use the ribbons to flirt with the nurses, lol)
You bring us such joy when you win your "fights" lil one.
Thank You!
God loves you and so do we!
