Prayer Request for A Tiny Baby (Update in post #12850)
Myself | 8-11-03 | Brad's Gramma

Posted on 08/11/2003 12:57:30 PM PDT by Brad’s Gramma

If you will, please remember this tiny baby in your prayers. He’s the grandson of a very dear friend of mine. Logan was born on July 25. His due date was in October, making his mommy 26 weeks along, being born 3 months and 3 days early.

Logan was 1 lb 9.4 oz when he was born and is now weighing, as of this morning, 1 lb. 8.3 oz. The little guy is now 12-1/2” long.

He’s a real trooper and is fighting with all his little body can fight with. His Grandma said that he’s starting to recognize his mommy when she comes in the room and hears her voice. She said he tries so hard to open his eyes, and starts kicking his feet.

I asked my friend if there were any specific prayers, other than the obvious…and this is her reply…” A prayer of thanks for the miracle called "Logan.”

On a personal note, I’ve read the emails daily from my friend. I’ve known her for years, I’ve heard her talking about her family for years…but I’ve got to tell you that I’m SO impressed with how her children have all banded together in support. What an incredibly wonderful and loving family.

Father God, we lift up Logan’s little body to you. We pray that you can strengthen him hourly, daily, weekly, until he’s grown enough to go home with his precious family. We ask for guidance for the doctors and nurses who are caring for him. We ask for strength for his parents and extended family. Thank you so much for the gift of life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Fellow Freepers…….I bring you Logan!!!

My niece had her (third) baby boy this morning! After 7 weeks in the hospital, with ruptured membranes and a small spot where the the placenta was bleeding, she had a fast labor and delivery about 2 AM! (Not the planned c-section.)

Baby boy was born at 32 weeks, 6 days and “came out screaming!”
He’s 16.5 inches long, but she didn’t tell us the weight. He’s in the NICU, but the word is that it’s only for a day.

My niece is my hero, and my Lord is King!
Bless you all for your prayers for the little one and his Momma.

I JUST ran across your post, and I was wondering how your niece and her baby were doing this many months later? :) Filled with happiness at reading your good news (even if it is old news LOL)! Thanks!

Baby is beautiful, and sweet tempered. And he’s got Auntie Bev’s (my) toes!

Even though all three are named after English Queens, Elizabeth is really the one with the Regal personality. She and another 4 yr old conspired to have all the girls in their day care class wear dresses last Friday. Elizabeth threw a hissy fit, a little unusual for her, that morning,INSISTING on wearing a dress. Then Kathryn and big sis Victoria chimed in to wear them too. A classmate was heard to say when she was dropped off, "Are you wearing a dress? You are wearing a dress!!"... Then when Dad picked them up, he noticed many of the girls were wearing dresses. So he asked the teacher.. every girl had worn a dress. Monday I got Elizabeth to admit that she and Phoebe had cooked it up. But I couldn't get her say which of them had the idea first. :) My money is on Elizabeth. :)

Elizabeth and Kathryn are 4 now, going to pre-K classes for special needs kids. Like many twins, their language skills are not as developed as others their age. They go to different schools, although Kathryn goes to the same school as big first grade sis, Victoria, who is also there for special needs classes as well as regular first grade stuff. She's mainly deficient in writing skills. But, skinny as she is, she can break a board with her elbow or the heel of her hand. :) She can dance, tap and ballet, and she can can sing. So can the twins, in fact they are all in the same singing class. :)

Elizabeth is still larger than Kathryn, about an inch and just under 4 lbs. They are still small,at 25 and 29 lbs, but it doesn't slow them down. For example, on Tuesday when I dropped E off at day care, which I do on Monday and Tuesday, her class was trooping around the church building. She took off after them, but I made her come back before I saw them. So they got farther ahead. She handed me her lunch box and took after them again. She fell down running down a hill, got up and ran after them some more. As soon as I was sure the teacher knew she was there, I took her backpack and lunch box to her cubby. Met them on the other side of the church as they were coming back. One boy had given her on of his maracas so she could join in the joyful noise. :) In her pre-K class it's Elizabeth and the 9 giants. All boys except for her. She's got them all wrapped around her finger. Many of them will tell her goodbye, but unless I remind her to tell them goodbye, she just ignores them, as if it were her due as Queen.

Kathryn is the smallest, the smartest and the most stubborn in her pre-K class. She goes 4 hours, 5 days, in contrast to Elizabeth's 2 hours 2 days. Those are the two days' that "Grandpa's Taxi" makes it's runs. The other days Dad transports Kathryn. Kathryn and Victoria ride the bus to school. Last year Kathryn sometimes rode it home, if there was anyone, like their other grandma, there. She got quite upset when she couldn't ride it, I think she liked being up high and being able to see everything. Now she's OK with that. I let her pick which way to go as we leave the parking lot. Either way works, but they are different routes to the freeway, and it serves as a "right hand/left hand" lesson.

Their great uncle, my wife's youngest brother, has a daughter Kathrine, only about 9 or 10, whose name is Kathrine. Every time we mention her or look at her pictures, Kathryn giggles. She also has a 3rd cousin, my wife's sister's granddaughter, Katharine as well. All spelled differently.

Kathryn still gives the best hugs. Elizabeth has begun to copy them though. They now sleep in bunk beds, with the beds at right angles to each other rather than one completely under the other. We thought Elizabeth would sleep on top, since she is fearless. But when I ask them, separately, who slept on top, they both almost always answer "Kathryn", and they always report the same. Sometimes, like Monday night, they both sleep in the same bed, sometimes the top, sometimes the bottom.

Elizabeth is the most self confident 4 year old I've ever come across. She is Queen Elizabeth, and she knows it quite well, the boys in her "apple" pre-K are but princes, if that. If she says something is the case, like no dance this Saturday, it is. But Kathryn takes no guff from her bigger, but younger, twin. In fact if anyone is chasing and grabbing, it's Kathryn. They both adore big sister Victoria. Both are good climbers, but since K has shorter arms and legs, it's harder for her. Both often run from the car to their day care class rooms. (Different rooms.. this year)

All three girls have food sensitivities. Little Kathryn the least. She can have both dairy and gluten, just not soy and artificial dyes. Victoria is probably the worse, but Elizabeth gets "bumps" on her back if she eats anything with soy in it. Kathryn has an issue with not staying hungry long once she starts to eat. Something do with receptors in her brain. So she will often eat half or less of her food, and then be hungry again in a half hour or so.

This weekend, they will be performing their singing and choreography routines at rest homes. The featured song is "The Good Ship Lolly-Pop".. first sung my Shirley Temple, who is within a year of their great grandmother's age. :) They both know their songs, in particular their solo parts. :)

They have two living great grandmothers. My mother and my wife's mother. The latter is fixing me some meatloaf as I type. :) All generally insist on their full name being used, not Vicky or 'Rori, Liz or Beth, Kat or Kathy. Although the twin's day care teachers do call them Liz or Lizzie and Kat. (Lizzie being particularly frightening to those her know her well, we'd prefer "Beth". :) )

Even the little un-cooperative one :) She may be taking lessons from Miss V !!! LOL

Kathryn is 4 1/3 now, and she's still stubborn as a mule.

She, and her sisters, will "give you five", if you ask. But when I get her loaded into her car seat for the trip from Pre-K to church day care, I'll reach back and say "Give me five".. and she puts her foot in my hand. Five toes I get... but that's always after one of those super-duper Kathryn hugs and it's really just her little joke.. I think.

The only long term concern I have is that she might have trouble walking and otherwise getting around if her legs stay in the proportion they are now.

She gets around just fine. Kathryn is still an inch shorter and almost 4 lbs lighter than Elizabeth. She has always gone through the developmental stages, crawling, standing, walking, a few weeks after E. But go through them she has. (Except for fine motor skills, where she has always been ahead) She also has less food sensitivities than either twin Elizabeth or big sis Victoria. She does have a "receptor" issue, that makes her feel full too soon, so she quits eating. But she gets hungry again quickly too. I always take her a snack when I pick her up, since that's about 1/2 hour after her lunch time. She's not always hungry, but is always thirsty. So I have a water bottle waiting for her in the car too.

Victoria will probably be built like her namesake when she becomes a Senior Citizen.

And maybe not. She's beginning to look like her Aunt C, her father's sister. Both C and Grandma T, their "other" grandma, are pretty thin women. Elizabeth not only is built like QE-II she acts like QE-I. :)

Hey y’all...remember Logan’s Uncle G?

He and his wife have a little friend, 3 years old, his name is Wyatt D. and yesterday he was diagnosed with acute leukemia.

Needless to say, we’re asking for everyone to include Wyatt, his family and his treating physicians in their prayers.

Our family (and a lot of our friends) have experienced the power of prayer, the miracle that it can bring, and what God and modern medicine can accomplish. NOTHING is more devastating than illness in our precious little ones.

Please pray for Wyatt.... and all the other children and their family who may be going through this very same thing.

Someday, perhaps our children or grandchildren will see all cancer related illnesses beaten. In the meantime, we pray and hope.......

Thank you all for your anticipated prayers....

*********

BG here...I don’t know if Logan’s Nana will be monitoring this thread or not...but I sure know what loyal prayer warriors you all are, so with her permission, this is being put up. Thanks everyone!!

To: Jim Robinson; All

Thank you ALL so much for your prayers for little Wyatt. He has already begun his chemo. It’s been so long since I’ve been on FR, and am so grateful at the names of the friends who have always been by my family’s side through the good and the “scary” times. I’ll take this opportunity to tell you that Logan is doing great! He’s in 3rd grade now, soon to be 10 years old in July and is a delight. He’s smart, loves life, has more friends that any child I’ve ever known, and of course, is still the love of my life.
Once again we have a little one who needs our prayers...you all do that so well, unselfishly and from the bottom of your hearts. Blessings and love to all... Nana
