It's not "still in the Rock". Rock doesnt contain C14 unless the C14 is contamination from another source. A rock (fossil) is not organic any organic material in a rock is added from another source. C14 dating a rock is like C14 dating a piece of plastic if you find c14 in the plastic you know for a fact its contamination and thats all.

No. I can do without beer, I can do without ice-cream, but caffeine is a vital nutrient.

We're certainly less snidely sarcastic, anyway.

You know that only Irish coffee has all the essential nutrients: sugar, caffeine, alcohol, and fat.

You mean like this:

>>Satan is seeing to it that well meaning parents are destroying their children's immune system by putting over 22 viruses into their system before they are two.

Hovind quoting from a testimonial as part of his warning about the evils of immunization.

Atkins? Pshaw. You oughta try my weight-loss regimen: training for a marathon. If the 20 mile training runs don't get you, nothing will.

I'm curious about using trigonometry to measure the distance to the stars. Can this really work beyond our immediate stellar neighborhood, and if not, how can trigonometry be relevant to YEC?

I find such concepts reminiscent of the view that logic is simply a tool of White Europeans to subjugate the rest of mankind. Evidently, some people are incapable of understanding that somethings just are, and are not evidence of an ulterior motive.

It is a tale Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, Signifying nothing. - Macbeth

That came to mind when I read your drivel of a response. You are correct, some things just are, like light from the Andromeda galaxy that is 2.3 million light years away is hitting us right now!!!! Meaning it has been travelling for 2.3 million years, which does not jive with your 6K year old universe. And you can not explain this!!!!! In fact, you refuse to explain anything I bring up, you simply answer in double speak. I am a patient man, and I have brought up simple examples of why the earth is not 6K years old, yet you refuse to talk about them. You posted before:

The illusion only stands up so long as the cards are left alone. Touch one and examine it and you will be picking up cards for years.

Yet you are afraid to examine anything I bring up to counter the 6K year old universe. Sounds a bit hypocritical to me.

But do parallax measurments work beyond 6000 light years, or far enough to pose a problem to YEC?

Parallax is used as the first step of the distance scale. It can be used with methods that overlap it to verify distances and extend those methods farther and farther away from Earth. I believe Parallaxes with Hipparcos are good to about 1000 ly, maybe a bit less than that, I forget.

Trigonometric parallax is good out to 500 parsecs, or about 1600 light years. However, that's far enough out to calibrate the Cepheid variable scale. (Cepheid variables are a class of yellow variable stars with a fixed relationship between absolute luminosity and period of variation). If you know the absolute luminosity of a star, and its apparent luminosity, you can calculate its distance. And since they've identified Cepheids in the Magellanic clouds (hundreds of thousands of light years away) and in nearby galaxies (millions of light years away), that nails YEC pretty nicely, for about the 150th time.
