Schwarzenegger's race helps GOP (immigrant persona deemed a plus)
THE WASHINGTON TIMES ^ | 8/10/03 | Donald Lambro

Arnold Schwarzenegger's bid to recapture the California governorship for the Republicans could dramatically change the face of their party in a major electoral state that is one of the Democrats' biggest political strongholds.

"If Schwarzenegger is able to win this and able to successfully govern California, he plants an inclusive Republican flag in a state that Democrats have taken for granted in the last several presidential election cycles," said an unidentified Republican Party official.

You're already ignoring reality -- A TRUE CONSERVATIVE CANNOT WIN THE GOVERNORSHIP IN THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA AT THIS TIME.

McClintock is a fine man and well qualified, but he cannot win this one, no way, no how.

Well if immigrants like Schwarzenegger, based on the article, then they'll love Ariana Huffington.

About the only thing that could make Bill Bulger closer to being a repub is that he is Pro Life and says he is socially conservative (all BS by the way). But then again that is basically a token stance since he has never done anything about it or about any other socially conservative issue. And even if he had? I would still vote for a RINO or even a genuine liberal democrat in MASS over that corrupt, murdering, gansta anyday (yeah- he knew nothing about his brother? Right! He ran the show! and his serial murdering brother was just his muscle.)

If Arnold is even 10 percent less liberal than his major Democrat opponent then I still think it is a better choice. I am not arguing that Arnold is somehow not a RINO. He is. But at least a RINO will occupy the seat and the party overall will be in a better position. He will have to pick some people from within the party and work with Republicans in the state government to get things done. I don't see an alternative. Does it stink? Yes. But you gotta face reality.

OK, here's reality: In the the 2002 California GOP primary, William Simon kicked the ample bootay of RINO cuddlebunny Riordan about 2 to 1. In the GENERAL election of 2002, despite his rookie status, an inept campaign and being hammered for several months over a rather untimely June or July $300 million dollar judgfment against his investment firm (not him in any way) for claimed fraud against an investor, William Simon, the obviously unelectable right-wing maniac got 48.5% of the ohhhhh sooooooo sensitive two-party vote for governor despite wanting to personally ax-murder WOMYN in alleyways, force them to get back-alley abortions, try to arrange government hit squads against gays, a Kali Klux Klan against Latinos, and concentration camps for blacks, yada, yada, yada, while permanently destroying with glee the environment and closing all gummint baby-sitting agencies, denying prescription drugs to yer gramma so she can die a painful death and arming the knuckle-draggers with street sweeper shot guns to finish off the progressives and scintillating visionaries, you know THAT William Simon.

Also the even worse State Senator Tom McClintock who makes Simon look like Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm got a measly 49.5% of the vote. How can these reactionary monsters not realize that only RINO Ahhhhnold Schwarzenkennedy, who is showing a big 25%!!!!!!!!! in the polls, can carry ultraprogressive, social issue Maoist really, California? McClintock is the one who sounds like an actual Repubican because he is, ummmmm, an actual Republican with a voting record to prove it. He is also actually able to answer coherently actual press and media questions on matters of, well, public policy, unlike Robotbrain Schwarzenkennedy.

Billy Bulger:

1. Billy represented Southie (bow your head). That alone, first American home of my textured paternal grandmother (tough peasant broad from the holy and anti-Brit City and County of Cork) justifies supporting Billy. If you think Whitey is tough, you should have met my gram. And, hey, we Irish get to have social clubs of tough guys like the Winter Hill Gang, too. If you shoot us, do we not bleed? If we shoot you back, ...... You think only Dominicans, Jamaicans, Rastafarians and Russians get to have those "clubs" now that Ray Patriarca is taking the big dirt nap and Junior and friends are out of business?

2. Billy Bulger's law firm represented at no charge and with the firm picking up expenses pro-lifers of Operation Rescue Boston facing criminal charges for shutting down abortion mills by hard-core sit-ins. Do you have any idea of the rates at which that firm ordinarily billed its services? Unknown, they approached pro-lifers (who couldn't steer paying business their way in any event) and asked respectfully for permission (!) to represent them.

3. As President of the State Senate of the Massachusetts General Court, Billy took many opportunities to do good. One spectacular will suffice. The usual gang of baby-killing suspects, Massachusetts division, circulated petitions under your state constitution forcing a state constitutional convention (state legislature as a whole presided over by Bulger as Senate President) to make slicing and dicing and hamburgerizing innocent babies a state "constitutional" right. This required the legislature to meet in joint session each and every day for up to a year until it acted on the proposal. Billy is a constitutional guy. Each morning for a year, he gaveled the convention into session and had a floor leader note the absence of a quorum. Billy had a daily list of pro-abort legislators who were instructed to be absent or else lest the offenders' districts get no more state funding, no more highway cash, no more jobs for the politician's no-show unemployable cousins, no more graft or fun of any kind and a guaranteed Bulger-financed primary opponent of substance to be named later by Bulger. Each day the quorum call followed. There would then be no quorum and the session would be adjourned to the next day. Repeat 365 times. End of pro-abort story. Yeah, Billy did pro-life stuff in the miserable political sinkhole of Taxachusetts that would have been hard to accomplish in Georgia or Kentucky.

4. In a state with Ted Kennedy, Ketchupboy Kerry, Barney Fag, and a wild assortment of other social and political diseases, you have nothing better to worry about than Billy Bulger????? What are you doing at Free Republic? If you think the lives of a few gangsters who lost in intramural shooting competitions are worth more than Massachusetts's share of 47 million slaughtered babies and counting, then whatever you are it is not conservative. We might expect this sort of thing from Randman but not from any genuine Burkeman if we are talking about Edmund.

5. BTW, my gram worked for the sainted James Michael Curley, also originally of Southie, who disposed of Honey Fitz early on. Gram was really Irish. So was James Michael Curley. So was the sainted House Speaker John McCormick of Southie who retired as Speaker, saying, in his eighties, that he wanted to represent pro-lifers in court. So is Billy. So is Whitey.

Agree with everything you've said. Billy Bulger is "old school" and took care of his friends. My husband hates him but my husband isn't from Boston (my family is) and he only knows what he reads in the newspapers (and he believes it, mores the pity!). I know personally many families who would have been destitute if Bulger hadn't helped them out. Runaway fathers, widows with children, etc.

You know them by their fruit. The Bulger family never owned a TV and all the kids are well educated and successful in various private businesses. No stain on any of them.

Billy Bulger is a big pro-lifer.

I have no idea why people are obsessed with Bill Bulger. Not when we have Kennedys and Kerrys sucking at the teet.

Can't defend Whitey, though!

See the numbers in #50. Liberals can repeat over and over and over again that only RINOs win but RINOs don't win. Conservatives, real conservatives, the backbone of the California GOP will not vote for them and rightfully so. Elephants never forget and the RINOs don't get rewarded for their persistent disloyalty and sabotage and they don't get to wag the dog.

Finally, you are a Catholic deacon. What on earth reason is there for rewarding Schwarzenkennedy who is a Catholic in Name Only (not just a RINO) for supporting abortion specifically and faggotry in general?????? Let me emphasize that one more time. AND the fact that Ahhhhhhhnold polls 25% not 48.5% or 49.5%

Latest California Gallup poll

64% wants Davis out

For Governor

Arnold 48%
Bustamante 23%
McClintock 13%
Simon 11%
Sanchez 9%
Ueberroth 8%
Arianna 5%

Looks like Arnold does, indeed, have 48%.

We don't have to defend Whitey. They will never catch him and, if they do, they will have to shoot him and claim he was escaping because he has too much on the "respectables" which is, no doubt, a major reason they have not caught him. I will grant you that Whitey is certainly not Billy but Southie corruption (who really cares???) is small potatoes compared to what the corporate big shots do over and over and over again.

The snobby set don't mind pension thieves at Enron who belong to the right country clubs but: Oh that Whitey!

God bless you and yours and help your husband to see the light.

I'll check that one in the morning with a friend at Gallup and see why it differs from the 25% level reported elsewhere. I you are right, I will say so.

Soon enough, regardless, the new boots of the robot brigade will wear thin and as Yevgraf Zhivago (the KGB half brother) said: we shall see how enthusiastic they (newly recruited Tsarist troops wearing their first decent boots of their lifetimes) will be then. If the Demonrats don't nuke robotboy, will you concede that he is the Demonrat in GOP drag?

Also, need that Catholic answer.

I'll bet you failed to notice that if you add SchwarzenKennedy;s purported 48% plus Bustamente's purported 23% plus McClintock's purported 13% plus Simon's purported 11% plus Sanchez's 9% plus Ueberroth's 8% plus Arianna's 5% you get an interesting sum. 48+23+13+11+9+8+5 = 117% This also does not include the nubile Miss Mary Carey (Cook)of, ummmm, alternative cinematic fame who has actually answered policy questions unlike you know who, Gary Coleman, the Nazi candidates, the Libertine candidate(s), the ever popular None of the Above and the ever popular Undecided and so forth.

If we trim Musclehead say 23% and assign a mere 6% to Wouldn't be caught dead voting for any of these guys (unless the machine votes my ballot for me and I am part of the necro-American wing of the Demonrats) and undecided, we have Wind Tunnel at the 25% as reported elsewhere.

Looks like Ahhhhhnold the Scalpel does NOT indeed have 48% but I will try to find out tomorrow from the horse's mouth so to speak. Meanwhile the RINO hunt continues without mercy. The 117% of the vote that is accounted for means that Schwarzenkennedy has slipped Bill Daley of Chicago into the Gallup organization. As Bill O'Reilly might ask: What are we missing here?????
