Adolf Hitler (search) once observed that it was easier to convince people of a "big lie" repeated often enough than it was to deceive them with a lot of small ones.
In their frenzied bid to displace President Bush in 2004, leading Democrats have evidently taken to heart this tip from one of the world's most successful propagandists.

And it's vitally important that we keep pointing out the Dem lies about Bush, even thought it gets to be rather tiresome, because if we don't, the Dems plant it into the public consciousness, and some of it is taking hold -- I even hear conservative commentators make remarks that Bush's comment about Iraq seeking Uranium in Africa was "incorrect" or "untrue".
The Democrats are undermining our security, trying to impair Bush's ability to govern and fight terrorism and ensure our national security, for their own political gain. ---
Look what Gore said in 2000:
``I believe that there can be no peace for the Iraqi people and a genuine peace for the people of the Middle East so long as Saddam is in a position to brutalize his people and threaten his neighbors,'' Gore told representatives of forces trying to topple the Iraqi president.
``In the interests of regional peace and for the sake of human decency, (Saddam) must be removed from power. That is the policy of this administration. It is the policy I support. It is the policy I am personally committed to,'' Gore said.

As opposed to the big lies being disseminated with increasing frequency from fringe political podiums across the country that George W. Bush is a socialist.
The Democrats aren't the only ones we have to beware of.
They are called "Nut Jobs" in main street America !
There are a bunch of them here on FR that get their opinions from a bottle of Bud Lite or Jack Daniels !
We know now that Ross Perot was not driven by any grand ideals to change the political structure of the country. He was in it because he hated Bush. I don't think many of these spurned fringers are much different.
How many times have you seen one of them post that it would be better for America if the Democrats regained power in the next election so that perhaps people would wake up to what they are saying. Some of them really believe this kind of logic.
While I concur with you, FRiend, about getting the truth out, the likes of Mrs. James Carville, who has got a kiss-and-tell book in the can as I'm told, is not the right stuff for the guidon bearer.
More on the lines of Ingraham, Coulter, and Schaffley.
