uh, why? is rush wrong?

Yes.

whats your problem here?

Conservatives pure enough for that loudmouth blowhard don't do well in California. Schwarzenegger, for all his faults (and he has many), is conservative where it counts--economic and fiscal policy, which is the first and foremost problem facing California right now.

All right smartie pants, which republican faction DOES do well in in California?

Call Senator Campbell and ask him (34%, got fewer % of women vote than prolife Lungren did in 98) Call Senator Fong, call Senator Seymour, call Senator Huffington, how about Insurance Commissioner Mendoza, or Controller Barrales.

They are all very moderate "fiscal conservatives" who were supposed to be the future of the Republican Party in California. They will side with you on how conservatives can't win.... what? They all LOST big time?...never mind.

you just contradicted yourself.. i think.. it almost sounds like your not a big fan of rush.. </s>

Schwarzenegger, for all his faults (and he has many), is conservative where it counts--economic and fiscal policy, which is the first and foremost problem facing California right now.

Arnie may be a financial conservative, but that is not what rush is saying.. not sure what you are trying to say, but one catagory (being fiscally conservative) does not make him a well rounded conservative.. as for his fiscal policies, i guess we will see when he gets elected.. (i think i will make it)

First off.....IF...Arnold is a "conservative".....I've seen very little, if any...evidence of it.

Secondly, I've learned more from and respect the "loudmouth blowhard" way more than most / many of the folks on FR.

Thirdly...I dunno how in the heck you can come to any conclusion ( let alone it being a "conservative" slant..) on Arnold's "economic and fiscal policy"....at this point in time.

FWIW--

Are you saying Good conservatives are bad? I've seen a lot more pickiness around FR than on Rush's show.

I don't often agree with you, but I am inclined to do so here...Although AHNOLD is a social liberal, he's probably just what Kalifornia needs fiscally. Plus, there is the possiblity that he will have "coattails" and pull some more Republicans in to the state legislature, so that some conservative legislation may get passed in spite of the Austrian Wonderboy. MAYBE his coattails are long enough for a veto proof Republican resurgence in the state legislature ~I know, I'm dreaming~ and hoist the RINO by his own petard!

Social issues wise, The Terminator won't change things for the state, still be a gun control paradise, etc. He may wish to live down the "nazi" mantle that has been recently hung on him from various areas and actually stop further controls from progressing.

He has a great weapon to use against the Dems and it's a simple message: "DEMOCRATS have screwed things up...Republicans cannot be blamed for this, we don't have enough of a voice to make a dent...so GIVE US A CHANCE! WE CAN'T DO ANY WORSE...." And he has the right idea to keep the whole thing a California thing. He doesn't need either GW Bush, or Bill Clinton or ALGORE or anybody not from California stumping around and muddying the waters. The Dems have their necks in the noose...but it might help a little if that thing with the enviros maybe having a hand in the shuttle disasters to leak out some....could swing things back to the right a little to have those idiots cringing some....

With all do respect, do have a source for this Fiscal Conservatism, or is this just more starry-eyed wishful thinking?

I keep hearing this old line about "conservative where it counts" ad hominem, much like I hear that Howard Dean is really a "fiscal moderate or even conservative" yet there's no evidence. But if this were all true, why isn't he explaining what he will cut- which will be the clearest reason to vote FOR him.

I am inclined to agree with you and that is coming from a lifelong (and a long life) as a conservative. Frankly, I'm getting more than a little tired of those "know-it-all" conservative commentators who are so sure of their superiority over their listeners. I'll name a few. Hannity, O'Reilly and Limbaugh. Everytime I listen to any of them they are talking down to me and I was here long before them, and know as much as they do. One difference is, I have known it longer.

Right you are Poohbah, we as Californians have to get our fiscal mess in working order, before we delve in "moral" issues. I can care less wether AS is a womanizer, or his stance on abortion.

So far he showed a genuine desire to help in bringing some sort of fiscal sanity among the "drunken sailor mentality" spending in Sacramento. That alone is good enough for me. He has 3+ Years to prove himself one way or another.I will judge him and his performance based on that not on some pundit(s) opinions, Rush or otherwise.

Monday morning quarterbacking, from a plush leather chair in sunny West Palm Beach while sipping a fine whisky and smoking a Partagas, is not going to fix the California's financial disaster. Talk is cheap! Reality bites!
