Conservatives pure enough for that loudmouth blowhard don't do well in California.

All right smartie pants, which republican faction DOES do well in in California?

Call Senator Campbell and ask him (34%, got fewer % of women vote than prolife Lungren did in 98) Call Senator Fong, call Senator Seymour, call Senator Huffington, how about Insurance Commissioner Mendoza, or Controller Barrales.

They are all very moderate "fiscal conservatives" who were supposed to be the future of the Republican Party in California. They will side with you on how conservatives can't win.... what? They all LOST big time?...never mind.

Before or after the friendly fire from the "conservative base?"

I noticed he dodged your question.

There have been conservatives who have lost (Simon, Herschenson), and moderates who have won (Wilson, although he was conservative on some issues, like illegal immigration).

But, what you say is basically right on. Frankly, a lot of it boils down to how good at running for office a candidate is, regardless of philosophy. But, there need to be at least some bones thrown to conservatives in order for a Republican to win statewide, IMO.
