Here me now and believe me later, my friends: all these conservative orgasms over Arnold Schwarzenegger are - like the "Gorbasms" liberals experienced over Mikhail Sergeevich Gorbachev - fake. I know that (R) next to Schwarzenegger's name excites the White House, but his own words prove he's not a conservative. I call this "The Hollywood Syndrome," and it happens every time some actor-type says anything even remotely conservative. I'm not trying to cold shower anybody here, but don't look to anyone in Hollywood to validate your political ideas.
The American Prowler's George Neumayr detailed Arnold's politics in his article "Here's Arnold!" Quote: "[H]e spoke in generalities and banalities about his plans for the state. To the extent that he said anything, he sounded not like a fiscal conservative but a moderate Democrat. He said that he wanted businesses to come back to California so that the state government could collect enough tax revenues to provide social programs. This is the sort of obtuse comment middle-of-the-road Democrats always make, forgetting that businesses are leaving the state because they are tired of paying high taxes for those big government social programs."
More: "He has told the press he is 'very liberal' about social programs, supports abortion and homosexual adoption, and advocates 'sensible gun controls.' His entree into politics last year was a proposition Democrats endorsed because it raised state spending for what amounted to state babysitting - before-school and after-school programs that cost the state up to $455 million a year. He has complained openly about the party's conservatism.... Talk magazine described him as 'impatient' with the religious right.... [H]e expressed disgust with the Republicans who impeached Clinton. 'That was another thing I will never forgive the Republican Party for,' he said. 'We spent one year wasting time because there was a human failure. I was ashamed to call myself a Republican during that period.'"
Does this sound like "the Next Reagan," as some people are calling Arnold? Hardly. This guy may be the next actor elected governor of California, but that's where the similarity between him and Ronaldus Magnus end.
$150 an hour, 80 hour minimum. Cashier's check only, please.
He's the anti-reagan. He'll smile and grunt into office while the state gets waste, "social(ist) program politics," and Kennedy klansmen in power.
If you find out you were wrong, can I return my unsatifactory product with the receipt for a full refund?
SCHWARZENEGGER: Well, I can tell you that we have to clean house in Sacramento. The most important thing is that we bring business back to California. There are more businesses leaving California now than ever before. When businesses come back, revenue comes back, when revenue comes back we can afford all kinds of different programs that are very important. We want to make sure that the children are not left with without any books. We want to make sure that our children have the books, that they have their place in the classroom. We want to make sure that they have after school programs. We want to make sure the mothers have affordable day care. We want to make sure the older folks have their care that they need. That everything has to be provided for the people. We have such a great state, there's no reason why we are in the state we are in today.
:-)
All sales as is. If you don't like it, do the legwork yourself.
Deal. See B Knotts' post #186.
I'm paying him the $150 instead, you just didn't meet the customer's needs fast enough.
Is this serious, I've heard it several different places. Now is there a campaign advocating reparations to Mexicans too by giving up California?
The guy is a big liberal. We don't need him and we WILL win without him.
Amen and amen again! Thanks for posting this! (Been too busy moving data out the door to tune in Rush today...)
Don't waste the Recall on a RINO! Vote for McClintock!

Then, they act all surprised and naive when the Republican gets elected despite them, and even more amazed when they are told to drop dead when they demand an audience with the very person they spent an entire campaign impugning.
Not satisfied, they then turn to flaming us.
What planet are you from?
From the looks of things, I'd say Planet Hollywood. (You know, the chain that FAILED.)
*sigh* There are just way too many starstruck sheeple supporting Schwarzenegger. When this whole issue first cropped up, one such person told me that there was "no way" that Schwarzenegger would be anti-gun because he was in so many shoot-'em-up films!
We're obviously not dealing with a helluva lot of brain thrust here...

Reads a little differently, eh? The primary objective of this candidate is bringing business into the state so that business money comes with it. He didn't say to fight for more dollars from Washington (a typical lib response) or to raise taxes (ditto), he stated his solution is to make California a pro-business climate, and frankly, THAT's what is needed. Government provides the climate for businesses to prosper, and so will the state. I cannot believe some of you cannot understand that.
Hey...aside from my bolding one line, I didn't even comment in my #186. I'm content to just let Arnold's words stand for themselves.
I really hope he fools me, and turns out to be conservative. He definitely got started on the wrong foot with that press conference yesterday, though.
