Schwarzenegger a "Social Democrat'

A Republican Hollywood liberals can accept. On Thursday's Good Morning America, actress Jamie Lee Curtis declared of Arnold Schwarzenegger the morning after he announced he's running in the recall election for Governor of California: "I think he will make a fantastic Governor."

She soon revealed her rationale: "I actually believe he's really, at his heart, even though he pretends to be a Republican, I think he's a social Democrat at heart."

Curtis appeared during the 8am half hour on the August 7 GMA to plug her new movie, Freaky Friday, but Diane Sawyer first asked whether she would vote for Schwarzenegger, with whom she co- starred in the 1994 film, True Lies. Curtis responded, as taken down by MRC analyst Jessica Anderson: "I think he will make a fantastic Governor. I think he's a fantastic guy. Look at who he is, from where he came from, and what he's done with his life. Look at his family life, look at his business life, look at his heart. You know, nobody knows what this man does. I don't think he's ever really sought publicity for the inner city games that he's created. He travels the world on behalf of Special Olympics, and I mean for years and years now. I think he's going to absolutely put up what he says he's going to do, and I think what else does California need except somebody who's going to do what they say they're going to do. He's charismatic, he's smart, he's fiscally responsible, and I believe-" Sawyer, laughing: "I hope you get a Cabinet post!" Curtis exclaimed: "I actually believe he's really, at his heart, even though he pretends to be a Republican, I think he's a social Democrat at heart. I think he's going to be a fantastic Governor, and there you go, and I hope he's taking his family to see Freaky Friday this weekend, or else I'm going to have to flick him on the tip of his lovely nose."

Check this out:

"Schwarzenegger is pro-gay rights, pro-choice on abortion and pro-gun control, and called the impeachment of Bill Clinton a Republican disgrace. How, then, conservatives ask, could the Terminator win enough GOP support to be elected?"

... "I think he's a social Democrat at heart."...

I know he's a social DemocRAT.

The first words out of his mouth was "...to furnish day care for working mothers..."

Jamie Lee? Maybe she can't face that it's possible an actor or actress is Republican. Coming from a ho bag like Curtis, this is a compliment to Arnold.

By red-state terms, he's not conservative. But by CA standards, he's as conservative as you can get and be electable. That's all that matters, because he can help us win CA next November. And he'll give Feinswine and Bauxite fits.

It is blindingly apparent that some haven't learned the obvious from the 2000 election! You forced Simon as your canidate because you wanted a "REAL" conservative... and he was the ONLY person in california politics who Davis could be at he did.

So now you are going to attack Arnold? Who has already shown he is at this moment the absolute best chance for a Republican to win should Davis be recalled?

Arnold merely stating he was going to run broke the democratic stonewall support for Davis! Wake up to political reality... good or bad, Arnold is right now the best chance the GOP has of winning a state wide office in Cali, particularly with any sort of mandate sizeable enough to where the legislature won't simply blackball/stonewall them after the recall election.

Better focus on what you want, a republican governor, or Davis or another democrat, because that's all your doing at this point.

When the recall was put in motion no one knew what the outcome would be. To complain about who might win (not your candidate) seems really silly to me. As the old saying goes "you pays your money - you take your chances".

Who really thought a conservative Republican would be elected Gov. Of CA.

I don't really care who wins in CA, I made my peace with it in 1989 when I left it.

I happen to agree with Ann Coulter, give it back to mexico, and forgive mexico's debt a the same time, as an added bonus.

Absolutely right. My son, who lives in CA and hates all politicians, would actually have voted for Riordan in the last election, even though he (my son, alas) usually votes Dem. Lots of people are sick of the Dems, but on the other hand, they're not going to vote for a very "pure" conservative like Simon or whoever is being proposed for that honor now.

I say the important thing is to get the Dems out. Let's not blow our chances again by demanding 100% conservative purity. Schwarzenegger may turn out to be a lot more conservative than expected once he's Governor, in any case. And even as he is, he's sure better than any Dem. And he's ELECTABLE!!!!

Arnold is no worse than Guiliani in his positions, and I rooted for Rudy over the fat bitch.

Arnold's no conservative, but he's funny and it's not my state anyway.

Go Arnold Go! (you liberal hump)

I also was struck by Arnold's call to "provide" day care, and he went on to call for government to furnish a panoply of various services.

No doubt he's no conservative. But darn it, I want to win the Governor's seat, and I want W to win California, or at the least force the Dems to fight hard and spend lots of bucks to defend it.

Do you know his positions? He's pro-choice, pro-gun control, and pro-gay. He's made statements on several occasions making that perfectly clear. Do you think he's a conservative?

RINOs are worse than a liberal democrat because they confuse the public on what conservatives stand for. Like it or not most of the voting public, media and liberals believe that Republicans and Conservatives are synonymous. For example when a RINO gets in office and starts pushing homosexual education for young schoolchildren the voting public becomes disillusioned and you hear the phrase - "all politicians are the same".

There is a war on for the minds and hearts of our children - Homosexuals want them, Racists like Jessie Jackson want them, America Haters and Communists want them - electing a RINO, especially one that supports a leftest domestic agenda, will further that destruction into pushing the liberal agenda and destroy whats left of America's family values.

Who cares? We gave up on California eons ago.

The Republican ticket will sweep in Republicans voters in 2004 - an issue not lost on Ms. Boxer, who is running for re-election.
