The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

That wasn't a quote but an opinion ,the writer's description of what the DA put in the filing.I didn't see slam dunk in quotes and the language of the filing that is in quotes just doesn't sound like that.

I have no idea who is telling the truth and don't lump me in with a "crowd" on this one. I'm only suggesting that such clucking is less than professional - by either attorney.

the guy is obviously either a fruit cake, or the someone in media made this up.

first, no one in the media would ever make something up(right?). second, the media is still suffering from withdrawal because of lack of high profile racism cases recently.

plus those attorneys working on the scott peterson case are really pissed they're sharing spotlight.

Yes, they did say that in the OJ case. And they did have a slam-dunk case. However, that jury might not have convicted OJ even if he had committed the crime right in front of them.

Kobe's case might well be a slam-dunk as to proof of rape. However, convicting a rich celebrity, especially one who can throw a ball through a hoop, is another matter. Look what the judge did in the Iverson case. And DeShawn Stevenson got probabtion and community service, no matter that it involved a 13 or 14 year old and her mother had his confession on tape.

I never said I wasn't anti-Kobe. He is a lying, cheating scoundrel. That being said, I don't know if he is guilty of rape. You accept media reports favorable to your position (Kobe is innocent-no matter what!!!!). I accept no media reports as factual. I may comment on them and debate the what ifs of the situation, but I don't believe any media reports-including the Rita report. Only time will tell if any media reports are correct.
