The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

I thought that jurors were called by county, not town. Is Colorado different than every other state?
Eagle county's website claims a population of over 40,000 for the county. If there is no change of venue, those 40,000 comprise the pool, not the 3000 in the small town.

I would love Rita to be right (purely selfish reasons). I'm tire of seeing women trashed on this forum and others-especially blondes. Hey, I am a blonde! Equal rights for blondes: Dumb blonde joke should be considered a hate crime.

My wife's a blonde. Her favorite comback is:

Do you know why there are so many blonde jokes?

Because the brunettes and redheads have nothing better to do than sit at home on Friday and Saturday nights, making them up! ;)

I saw some waitress (I think) from a diner there interviewed today. Her take on what she is hearing from the customers is about a 50/50 split of opinion re: the case.

I saw a waitress interviewed yesterday as well (probably the same one). She was describing her own experiences in handling the media rush. She relayed a story about a National Enquirer reporter coming into the diner. The reporter said something like - I need dirt on the accuser and am willing to pay for it. Two girls who had attended high school with the accuser claimed they had it. They were paid $12,000 each for relaying stories that I doubt were verified. Pretty tacky business dealings, IMHO.

Thats what I think too. I got called for duty in Cherokee county-they excused me because I was still breastfeeding. The judge couldn't get me out of that courtroom fast enough-had the baby with me. I think he was worried I would whip it out right in court.

This is why I beleive some of the stories about the victim will not make it into court.

Very tacky!
During November of 2000, I got a call from "People" magazine. They were doing a story on Katherine Harris, and had been given my number as contact person for the neighborhood where KH lived in Tallahassee.
The reporterette was very sweet, but couldn't understand that I had only nice things to say.
Reporter got frustrated, I got frustrated. Finally she blurted, "Can you give me the number of a DEMOCRAT neighbor?"
That's when I hung up.

Now why am I thinking the article written by the "reporterette" didn't include a single pro-Harris quotes? You're a far nicer person that I. Instead of hanging up when she asked for the number of a democrat neighbor, I'd have asked her to hold on a moment. Then my family and I would have gone out to dinner. :)

You've clearly not read the transcripts;

Why, yes, I watched practically every minute of that trial, so yes I am quite familiar with all of the testimony.

Nicole's other 'boyfriend' left Kansas City just prior to the murder, traveled via plane to LA, and came back just after the murder.

Once back in Kansas City, he hurriedly boarded another plane and went to a secluded private island resort and stayed there for quite a while.

No one ever mentions this.

If you used to see him often, and were used to his facial expression, and compare it to now, there is something missing. To me it is a tell-tale.

Makes one wonder, doesn't it? If he found Nicole with a white guy. Jealousy reared it's ugly head and the physical strength of football training combined with jealousy and anger provoked an uncontrolled emotional response?

You've clearly not read the transcripts;

How many times have you heard that one!

Here's hoping we find common ground on this thread.

I am going to go back and read your posts to see what your stand is on this. I find that so far, many are ill-informed. Many are missing the point. As in other cases, no one knows what the jury will do, regardless to the evidence and credibility of the victim/witnesses, etc.

Yes, jury pools in state court cases in my experience come from the county. I did not mean to imply otherwise. I heard that the county population was around 30,000, but won't dispute your 40,000 figure.

But I think that the county seat is usually the largest town and that what is happening in the town is likely happening all over, albeit it may be less intense.

And what about the femiists? Where is Martha Burke? Perhaps she is too ashamed to show her face after the fiasco at Masters.

It is one thing to cheer Kobe on the basketball court, but I found it sick and perverted to have people who apparently do not even know Kobe show up and cheer him when he is being indicted for rape. What kind of message does this send to rape victims?

Note: Kobe's parents and wife did now show up. Not good for Kobe. And his lawyers should at least have handed him a necktie.

"...but in this case, none have stood up against abuse of woomen...."

What case? We have an allegation of a crime. We have a person indicted (which is not a finding of guilt) and we have the alleged victim.

We have an accusation of rape vs. a denial accompanied with a statement of consenual sex.

Exactly WHAT is there to stand up against at this point?

Without a finding of guilt by a court of law, what you ask them to do is speak out against an unproven accusation. To damn the accused without basis?

Isn't that EXACTLY what you are doing....damning players in the NBA without basis?

You've clearly not read the transcripts; both the timing and demeanor were precisely as I described. The testimony of one other passenger on the plane was part of the record and this was a businessman who had flown with OJ on several prior occasions and who spoke with him on this flight, and he insisted that OJ was telling jokes, totally at ease and happy, and clearly lacking a care in the world. People who flew with OJ on the return trip, after he'd learned of the murdres, described him as shaken.

They just happened to sit together on flights to Chicago all the time? hmmm. Funny how there was only one person who said this.

Dumb blonde joke should be considered a hate crime.

We could change it to dumb liberal jokes.

You know why liberals aren't allowed to work on factory assembly lines?

Because it takes too long to retrain them every time.

BWAHAHAHA!
