[history]
The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

Howlin, if you're looking for fairness then that is admirable and I'm sorry to have misinterpreted your position. Originally I was neutral about this as we should be, but the all-out attack on the accuser has probably affected a lot of us in a negative way toward Kobe.

Are you under the impression that there isn't an all out attack on Kobe Bryant?
If so, I suggest you reread this thread.

I knew he was guilty when I saw him at the press conference,
he was tripping over his tongues and sweating bullets. I agree with Rush, the dude wished then it would have been just cheating on his wife.

I myself had a C-section and I thought I was going to die! It hurt soooooooooooooooooooo bad!!!
To: Howlin
You're right, he's being attacked, too. It is hard to be objective, even when we try very hard to be. I wonder how we all get pulled into these cases, I was determined to stay away from it as I did for most of the OJ one. Oh, well. It's the 24-hour news-cycle, we can blame that.

We get pulled into this slimey stuff because of the media; the media sucks -- and to justify their very existence, they sucker punch US with sensational headlines which turn out to be untrue, and then they lecture us on the morality of it all.
If we learn nothing else from this little dog and pony show, we should never forget that the media and their "stringers" are bottom feeders that can make any one of us look as guilty as sin -- and get paid for doing it.
My big "thang" is actually hoping to actually SEE a trial, any trial, where everybod obeys the rules........LOL.

Of course I mean the 24-hour saturation of cable news! News has always been in cycles...Duh!
Anyone have an idea how long this case will take to try? Who would have guessed the OJ one would take months, and I wonder if they'll sequester the jury again.

There are lots of people with major "issues" that are going to jump on this particular train. NOW, jilted first wives, heck any woman who doesn't like men, insecure women dying to pummel a man, any man, losers from high school acting like they really were somebody.......in other words, the dregs of life.

I have no idea how long it will take; I guess it will take as long as the press needs something to talk about.

Kelly Clarkson auditioned for American Idol too. I never realized that Kelly Clarkson was psychologically unstable, but she did audition for American Idol, so I guess that proves it.I'm not judging her -- I'm just trying to identify facts on both sides that a jury might find prejudicial. Given that a standard tactic in cases like this is to portray the accuser as a fame-seeking nutjob, the American Idol audition (if indeed that did happen - at this point, we really don't know) will play into the defense's hands. Do you disagree?

Are you under the impression that there isn't an all out attack on Kobe Bryant? It seems to me that in the beginning of these threads there was an active voice supporting Kobe, or at least dismissing the accuser. It was also the impression I got in hearing periodic comments from Rush and Hannity.
It's sort of impossible not to register on one side or the other after a while. The accusations about both Kobe and the accuser tend to polarize people. And I, like others, got tired of hearing about "poor" Kobe and how he was being unfairly victimized just because some young woman cried rape. I have a certain amount of built in faith, and maybe wrongly so, that the police and DA have pursued this case because of strong evidence, not because of the histrionics of a teenager or some other such wrongheaded basis.

You forgot the Laker fans who believe everything is a conspiracy against them. Or were they covered under "losers from high school acting like they really were somebody"?
To: HurkinMcGurkin
My listing can be refined at any time by anyone since it was off the top of my head.
Lakers fans it is.
Plenty of people with issues to go around. :-)

I like your answer. And I tend to agree with your conclusion, and am a true crime ..."enthusiast" I guess you'd say, myself. That's why I love these threads as well.
But I draw a distinction between those who are inclined to believe one side or the other and can rationally explain why (which is an exhilirating use of wits and deduction), and those who childishly assert that they somehow magically "know" that the girl is a whore and a gold-digger, or that they magically "know" that Kobe is a rapist, and spend time and energy cheering "their side" and jeering the other like it's a high-school football game.
That kind of logic deserves no respect IMHO. That's all.
:-)
