[history]
The prosecutor in the Kobe Bryant rape case says he has slam-dunk evidence to prove the NBA superstar's guilt, it was revealed on the eve of the hoopster's first court appearance today. Eagle County District Attorney Mark Hurlbert made that strong claim in court papers arguing against making public the police affidavit written to justify Bryant's arrest early last month.

You must be one of his biggest fans, every thread you come on with such definite beliefs about him. I can't imagine feeling that way about a celebrity and a case I know nothing about! And the reality IS that, we all know virtually nithing, just lots of rumors and speculation and WAY too much emotion in both directions for a 24-year-old guy whose one and only skill is playing basketball. And a very young woman we will never know either.

It's still ALL about the money - Money spent on Kobe Bryant because he's a big Basketball star, money that is going into Eagle County's diners, hotels, bars, etc due to the media frenzy, and ultimately it will be whether money pays off to those who will try this case...I hope justice stands tall and tries this case based on the evidence. Until then, it's all about the MONEY!
To: Howlin
Ahh, what sweet memories. I was in law school at the time, and justified my watching most of the trial as 'studying'.
To: Strider
How about fecal matter in her...let's say...her mouth or vagina? NOW KOBE would have some 'splainin'...
Rapists are known to "engage" in that type of "rough sex"...
I think the evidence in this case may be along those lines...

To: Howlin
Needless to say, that works both ways. Only I'm not claiming to be unbiased. I'm in favor of fairness. I'm detecting a lot of stealth racism against the girl. Flirting with the "enemy", so she must be punished.

What a horrible thought.

"Two failed suicide attempts = Attention American Idol = Attention Rape accusation = Attention"
playing BB for in the NBA is NOT wanting attention?
million dollar home is NOT wanting attention?
commercials, tv specials, and winning the famous "teen idol" awards....
nope, the only one seeking attention is the victim....poor Kobe is just a shy wallflower.....

Hmm, you seem to know all his skills. Have you met him, you know what he does other that what you see in the sports clips. I guess you are the one spouting definate beliefs with no basis.

Oh great, I can just picture Kobe trying on the condom.....I know you joke, but he didn't use one, hence the pesky DNA evidence that, like the blue dress, showed he did indeed have sex with that woman. Now the question is, was it assault or consensual.
To: ellery
'We have some dynamite stuff . . . this is not a he said, she said.' He suggested there was someone else" who would be a prosecution witness,...I wonder if this means one of the bodyguards has a conscious and will provide eyewitness testimony.

"Clearly we now have another suspect."
Ah, yes, did anyone check her salt content?
To: cyncooper
Hey Cyn-In my book-not using a condom when having sex (especially with a stranger)is just plain stupid. Kobe apparently wasn't worried about STD's or pregnancy. He may not be a rapist, but he is a fool. I feel bad for his wife and baby.

And any comments about how this was a submission to the court and not at a presser reveal the naivete of the poster. Nothing the D.A. is submitting to the court is given without the full expectation of public disclosure.I am not naive. I fully expect both sides to put their strongest points forward in their filings for the very reason you mention.
At the same time some thought these remarks were made by the DA to characterize his case after the gag order was put in place, which was not true. I expect both sides to vigorously argue in court--in filings and in oral argument--their positions.
To: Lee'sGhost
You read my mind.
To: cyncooper
Now the question is, was it assault or consensual. Tough to determine. Didn't "teeth" marks on the women undue the Marv Albert defense? Perhaps he did a semi-tyson on her???
To: cherry
nope, the only one seeking attention is the victim....poor Kobe is just a shy wallflower..... So you think Kobe is doing this on purpose becuase he has gained attention.
Post hoc ergo propter hoc.
To: Strider
I'm guessing that this dynamite stuff isn't going to be about the two 911 calls made from her house. Why don't they release those?
Patience. They'll be released eventually if deemed relevant.
Calls from Kobe's house were available to the press.
Some aspects were made available, but not all. For example, can you tell me the identity of the female or females who needed "medical attention"? Can you tell me what the medical problems were?
I don't care except if an investigation deems them relevant, too, but you are wrong to characterize the calls as "available" implying that all there is to be known about those calls has been revealed.
To: 1Old Pro
Now that you mention it, I do recall teeth marks in the Albert case. But what stuck in my mind was his, ah, preference in apparel...
Eek
