MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 5 The clergyman seeking to become the first openly gay bishop in the Episcopal Church has been cleared of 11th-hour allegations, church sources have confirmed, NBC News Jim Avila reported Tuesday afternoon. The vote by bishops to confirm the elevation of the Rev. V. Gene Robinson, which had been postponed Monday for an investigation into the surprise allegations, was rescheduled for Tuesday afternoon.

"They" can clear him of these allegations, but he will still face the eternal Judge, who has a higher standard.

The Catholic Church would be in the same position as the Episcopal Church if it (we) didn't have a structure and hierarchy to guard against the evil and stupidity of men. Thank God for "papal infallibility", which does not mean popes are perfect; it means that even if a pope be a scoundrel, God will guard the core beliefs of the Church.
We Catholics are just as sinful and dopey as Episcopalians, and there but for the grace of God go we.

Amen, and for some reason we continue to vote for RATS in large numbers. God, I hope we wake up soon.

Bishop-elect cleared of allegations.. No it means that while buggering, sharing golden showers and fisting with his boyfriend he didn't use any (gasp) porn. And while advocating homosexuality and other perversions through his youth (chicken hawk) organization he didn't do any "involuntary touching" - it was all "outreach", dontcha know.
The hypocrisy is so thick here you'd need dynamite to cut through it.

Welp, looks like the episcapalians, along with the unitarians, et al just once more show why they are not the keepers of the faith."'Course we knew that back in the '60s when they refused to reign in the heretical bishop Pike.

I forgot "rimming". Probably a few others as well.

Can y'all use a couple of retread Episcopalians? :-) Yes, indeed. The poster above alluded to the fact that not only individual Episcopalians, but entire parishes have joined with the Pope. There are even special provisions to allow the use of the traditional Book of Common Prayer, with a few modifications.

His being openly gay is not an allegation.
IT'S A FACT!
Sorry about the shouting, I'm just upset about all this perverted she-it!

The various changes over the past twenty-five years have reduced the Episcopal church to a rude joke from what was otherwise a major religion. The changes actually started back in the 60s -- but yes, it's dying.

Sadly, the nearest Anglican Use parish to us is in Columbia SC - about 3 hours away.
Of course, we may have quite a few more springing up before too long . . .
I have no idea what our parish is going to do . . . considering now whether to wait and see, whether to join one of the breakaway Anglican churches, or just go ahead and pick up the phone and call Monsignor's secretary for an appointment.
BTW, since I'm 3rd generation cradle Episcopalian, how DOES one correctly make contact preparatory to a conversion? Phone or letter? Should we visit around local parishes first? Can we expect to go into an RCIA class, or as "high" Anglo-Catholics is it a matter of making confession/reception into the communion?

Have you considered attending an Anglican Use Church within the Catholic Church? (Not proseltyzing, just curious. I'm a ROman Catholic who is an Anglophile and I have great sympathy for Episcopalians. I love th2 1928 Book of COmmon Prayer.) What's the "Anglican Use Church"? (I'm in the Anglican Province of Christ the King -- and we use the 1928 BCP.)
