August 4, 2003 -- The woman accusing Kobe Bryant of rape tearfully told a bellhop minutes after the alleged attack that that she had just been "forced to have sex" with the NBA superstar, according to a new report. Friends and co-workers of the accuser told Fox News correspondent Rita Cosby that the 19-year- old hotel worker's clothing was torn when she spoke with the bellhop.

There were NO TORN clothes.

I was just starting to ask how you wind up with torn clothes if the sex started out as consentual. Was she not even going to strip for her quickie? How romantic! Or was Kobe such a beast that "consentual" means ripping off her clothes before whipping out his manhood?

We really are hearing two different stories and I think we're just going to have to wait until trial to see what is fact and what is disinformation.

So far, neither side of the story completely adds up.

I agree; but one thing we can learn from this "breaking news" is that Rita Cosby cannot possibly be believed.

No! I am not watching MSNBC. Thanks for the update.

For the record, I pointed out that Luke Bray's account was the girl drove home alone so there was a discrepancy.

I believe I have made it clear all along that I trust no media account totally until it is ultimately presented in court, but that I intend to speculate based on the record at hand. I've made a huge effort to always disclaim "if true, if it turns out, IF etc, etc. etc.".

Naturally when going back and forth the "if" is implied after one makes it clear they are speculating on the available record, but that is and always has been my stance. However, statements by parties made directly on tv, like the Bryant statement, the DA's statements, and so on I accept as the actual state of the record.

Now it is dinnertime in sunny AZ. So I still won't be watching any cable news. Updates always appreciated.

Just remember, when the story finally emerges, oral sex isn't sex and Bill Clinton said so!

Mrs. Kobe Bryant wore a cubic zirconium ring to the teen awards. Must have kept the Purple Diamond at home. Luccianne.com pictured the ring on their website this am. Ms. Bryant wore a huge crucifix as well. My gosh but what a tangled web the media is weaving, with lots of misinformation.

I'm sorry that I missed Randy Wyrick. I think he's the most credible reporter on this case right now.
How much of Rita's report is he challenging?

I googled for his latest article, and found an interview with him from earlier today:

http://www.nbc4.tv/sports/2379193/detail.html

Randy Wyrick, of The Vail Daily, told the "Today" show that "they (Bryant and the alleged victim) began fooling around, as it were, and that part was consensual. She said 'no' shortly thereafter. She had enough. One of our sources also said she was trying to leave and was not allowed to leave."

Wyrick also said that his sources told him that the alleged victim then turned up in the lobby in "a stupor" and with visible physical injuries. He also said that Bryant initially denied even knowing the victim.

There is another witness reportedly. I have heard there are two-maybe three witnesses that saw her after the incident.

And don't forget that EVERYBODY lies about sex. If Vanessa isn't upset about this, who are we to judge? This doesn't rise to the level of a criminal offense. Let him get back to doing the work the Los Angeles Lakers hired him to do.

I heard on Fox last night that Kobe was staying at expensive hotels (Plaza was one) in New York with his bodyguards under an assumed name for at least a week before the incident. Where was Mrs. Kobe-home with their new baby. These are hardly the actions of a family man. I bet this was not his "first time".

Hi Howlin

I don't think you would believe any story that seems to confirm Kobe's guilt. You just don't believe he did it period. I think Rita is a great deal more credible than five un-named guys at a party. Face it, more and more evidence (if true) is coming out that makes Kobe look guilty. Kobe lied to the police (new reports). The girl told someone right after it happened (new reports). There have been multiple reports that the girl was injured (old reports). Kobe is playing the race card just like OJ (my opinion).

Here is some independent reporting from ESPN that rolling stone posted at #62 (rs, I'm reposting for those that didn't catch it earlier).

They don't mention "torn" clothes, either--but "disheviled". Also don't mention a ride home, but they DO say she told the bellman immediately and, well, here's the article. If there are pictures they most certainly will be entered into evidence:

Co-worker reportedly was disheveled and had marks

EAGLE, Colo. -- Bobby Pietrack, a bellman at the Lodge & Spa at Cordillera, told police that he saw his 19-year-old co-worker shortly after she left Kobe Bryant's room on the night of the alleged sexual assualt, ESPN's Shelley Smith reported Monday.

Pietrack reportedly told police that the woman was visibly upset, disheveled and had red marks on her neck and face, according to Smith.

Sources close to the investigation say Pietrack is considered the first link in the chain of what is called "immediate outcry," meaning he is the first person the alleged victim cried out to immediately following the alleged incident.

The alleged victim went to police the following day, approximately 13 hours after the alleged assault. Sources also said that photos taken of her at that point show the marks. Those photos are considered part of the prosecution's evidence.

Pietrack has not spoken to reporters and has declined repeated requests by ESPN.

Thanks Cyn, How can you not feel sorry for that poor girl if this is true? I can not understand why anyone would support Kobe if he is a rapist-a brutal one at that.

You can think whatever you want to about what I think; frankly, I'm not interested.

I'm interested in the facts and you're interested in making sure Kobe Bryant is convicted.

You are interested only in "facts" that support Kobe. You seem to accept-in my opinion-"facts" that show the victim in a bad light. Hey, it's a free country-merely stating an observation. Alsol, I certainly do hope he is convicted if he raped that girl-don't you?

Rita Cosby said, "the bellhop told me", etc. She went on to say that he would be a key prosecution witness. That caught my attention because of the gag order. I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree til the transcript of this report is up on the Fox web site.

I heard her breathlessly say, "the bellhop told me" or words to that effect implying that she talked to the guy. She also claims that the police chief told her personally that there is physical evidence. (I'm a she)
