Leaving aside the Aztec issue, when we're in the worst budget crisis in state history and the legislature can spend nearly half a million dollars on a *statue*, it's sure confirmation they don't *really* need any more of our tax dollars. Incredibly frustrating.

California can't fall off into the ocean soon enough. What kind of crap is this?

Figures. Only in Californication would they find it appropriate to use taxpayer money to fund a shrine to a pagan god and dedicate it to the butt pirates whose own promiscuous behavior caused their death.

"What kind of crap is this?"
In Californication, it is just everyday, ordinary crap.

The Aztec image you posted on another thread seemed most appropriate here.

"The project, planned for Lincoln Park in northeastern Los Angeles, has been promoted by Assembly member Jackie Goldberg, a member of the legislature's joint budget committee and the state's Gay and Lesbian Caucus, which has sponsored a number of controversial bills this year."
This is the same fat cow that was overheard throughout the state capitol planning to stall the budget for political gain.
F You Jackie Goldberg!

There should be a suit based on 1st Amendment grounds. I've noticed this trend where pagan gods have become vogue. I think I read that the new Catholic Church in Los Angeles has some pagan influence in the architecture, too! It should not be supported by state funds.

Well, as a monument to human sacrifice (in this case, to the god of hedonism), perhaps it's entirely appropriate. Of course, the planners are completely blind to the irony.
