New Play Toy!!! (Firearm)
Today I strolled into a local gunshop and much to my amazement I found a Steyr M40 (NIB) for $399.00. Id always been interested in the Steyr ever since it came out specifically the smaller s series and more so the S357.
Well I just could not pass up such a good deal, Ive seen this gun in shops down south, (GA, TN, SC) for as much as $519.00, so when I saw the $399.00 I had to have it.
Bought a pistol blanket for her, four boxes of Speer plinking ammo and some .40 cal cleaning supplies (bore brush, pads etc
) as this is my first 40.
Shot it already and WOW!!!
Accurate, once you get use to the trapezoid sites, trigger is short, very short and crisp, nice break around 5 pounds.
It is a very tight gun, first time I tried to apply the manual safety I couldnt, took three or four tries now it moves just as the manual says it should, with two fingers.
I will most likely buy a tac-lite for this and a .357 barrel, and (pray) once the AWB goes away Ill get me a few normal capacity mags for it (12 rounds) and then shell make a rather nice beside the bed gun.
Its so nice to be able to buy a gun in a gun friendly state!

And, if I was the first guy through the door I'd want one of these...in .45 ACP.
You mean this baby?
To: King Prout
You, sir, are a rifleman.
To: yarddog
Well, I never plan to hunt with my shotgun.

I keep trying to explain that to rank-and-file antigunners, but they never want to admit the truth of that statement.
Taking them to the range seems to be vastly more effective.
Since I don't have kids, I consider it my duty to convert antiguinners into well-trained, well-armed, avid gunners instead.
Each of us must wage this culture-war using tactics suited to our situations, yes?

yes?YES!
We must all do all that we can.
I have better spent $50.00 at the range convincing a few previous anti-gunners to support the 2nd Amendment than a $50.00 donation to a pro-gun group could ever do.
However, we must financially support the pro-gun groups too. They have the bigger voice.
The great thing is that it is YOUR money to spend where you think it will do the most good!
BTW, welcome to FR.

The ammo looks weirder than the gun; what is that?
To: grapeape
It is. I think it differs in that it has a more advanced safety and comes with a double stack magazine.Evidently a fine weapon which won a bunch of awards.
That said,I understand that you probably should have larger hands if you're going to use it effectively. Very wide grip.

Nice gun, but I think I would prefer the new Beretta Storm in .45 ACP.
Really cool looking.

S&W model 10, right? Speaking of old school I inherited one from my father and one from my father in law. Both men had sound judgement, I'd say.

The Ingram MAC 10 with a Sionics Suppressor was designed to kill a room full of people with out the hotel staff knowing what had happened. This is a very specific job requirement. It is not a sporting weapon. It is a weapon for killing. It gained fame during the 80's and the drug war years. But it does what it was designed to do.
