WASHINGTON – A major hotel chain that will not make top-rated Fox News Channel available to guests has a record of individual campaign contributions heavily favoring Democrats.

Federal Election Commission records reviewed by NewsMax.com show that among those officials who list Starwood or a Starwood hotel property as their workplace favored Democrats by better than 3 to 1 over Republicans for the 1999-2000 election cycle.

Starwood's hotels include Sheraton, Westin, St. Regis, Luxury Connection, Four Points and, ironically, W.

The Marriotts are well known as staunch republicans. I always stay at one of their hotels.

Good to know. Marriot has given my in and out of trouble niece a great opportunity. She went to work for them part time. She was willing to do whatever asked. Although she was hired to work at the front desk, if a room needed to be cleaned in a hurry or even painted she volunteered.

As a result Marriot took her into to their manager trainee program. They paid her expenses from PA to LA, CA. They pay her tuition to attend UCLA part time. Plus she's making good money.

Thanks for the good laugh----I can still smell one I stayed in 45 years ago.

God,it was awful, but I was young and poor.

I'm planning a trip in November and will avoid the Fox prohibiting hotel chains,I'm planning on staying at a Thistle Hotel. Does anyone know if I can get Fox in London,I haven't been there in 3 years?

I just recently took a trip to the Texas Hill Country and was surprised that the Sheraton in San Antonio didn't carry the Fox News Channel and neither did the Habitat Suites in Austin (well, I guess I'm not shocked about Austin not carrying it-ha ha). It's funny how the Best Western and Comfort Inns (in Fredericksburg and San Marcos-considerably more conservative areas) BOTH carried the Fox News Channel though....

My son was high up in the college republicans a few years ago and served with one of the Marriott grandsons. He is supposedly a "chip off the old block!!"

i sent an email (http://www.starwood.com/corporate/contact_us.html) basically stating that their censorship of FoxNews would cost them. france lost 80% of its american tourists this quarter because people don't like anti-americanism. nothing will earn a hotel chain the anti-american label faster than censorship. time for them to put their partisanship aside and do the right thing.

Here's another thread where NPR, of all people, bash Fox...

Many television talk shows -- not only on FOX -- make their reputations for delivering opinions and emotions. But FOX especially seems to pride itself on its appeal to unfurled patriotism with a conservative perspective. That frequently infuriates many NPR listeners (but not, it seems, FOX viewers) because of the openly ideological premise that some find jingoistic and downright un-journalistic. NPR listeners also object to the high emotional content of the programs and resent seeing NPR reporter participation.

It doesn't matter. They run lousy hotels anyway.

Rupert Murdoch had a good idea. CNN had a good market but catered to less than half its potential. Heck, just being truthful had audience appeal. Rupert couldn't lose with Fox.

Deliberately alienating over 1/2 its potential customers is lunacy.

Watch the stock!!

ATTENTION FOX NEWS: How about a list of hotel chains which carry fox news. (sky if international)

I would pay attention to that list.

When I travel, I don not like watching CNN, its just hate TV.

Ahh yes. More liberals who believe in diversity, tolerance and listening to all points of view - as long as it's their own.

Just goes to show what John Adams and Ronald Reagan knew, and the Soviet nomenklatura found out too late: facts are stubborn things. It's very hard to keep the people from finding the facts eventually.
