Another Poll on Texas Redistricting
Dallas Morning News ^ | July 30, 2003 | Self

Go to the page above, find "Texas Talkback" in the box at the right. The link to "TT" is a java script link and I can't post it in the heading. Here it is, though: javascript:popsize('/cgi-bin/survey.cgi?survey=2531&step=answerSurvey', 600, 450)

You have to register with the DMN, I think, but it's free.

Please go to the site and let everyone know how you feel about the dems obstruction of the Texas Legislature's business. The Texas Constitution says that the Legislature, not the courts should draw these maps. The Senators and Legislators are supposed to represent us in Austin, not NM or OK. The Texas Constitution requires that the Senators and Legislators **show up** rather than run away.

Texas has elected our State Senators and Representatives. We demonstrated that we desire Republicans to represent us at the last election, when we won a majority of seats in the State, both local and State wide. The Democrats need to stop obstructing the work of the Legislature. Show up or Resign!!!

Speaker of the House should send certified mail to every Representative telling them they have 24 hours to show up at the capitol. If they do not comply, the Speaker should then send a message to the Secretary of State, stating that these seats have been vacated by the representative and that a special election must be held to replace them.

Mine didn't show up, either. So much for journalism at the DMN.

The question: Should the Legislature proceed with redistricting?

My reply:

Absolutely. Texas voters are being DISENFRANCHISED by Democrat obstruction. More voters voted for Republicans than the current 17-15 split that favors the Democrats. It SHOULD be more like 19-13 favoring the Republicans. THEIR actions illustrate an attempt to hold on to power in the face of dwindling support by Texas voters. We're tired of the Democrats Divide America/Class Warfare tactics !!!

The Democrats fleeing is an obstruction tactic and they are avoiding their constitutional responsibility to represent their constituents. Their actions are DEPLORABLE. They should GET BACK to Texas and face the music !!

Here's the reply to my email asking about why my post didn't show up:

""We get so many responses to each day's Texas Talkback that we are never able
to use them all. We approve a representative sample of all sides of an
issue, and a representative sample of the general sentiment. If 80% of the
responses are against a certain issue, 80% of the approved comments should
be too. That way, the reader gets a more accurate picture of what others are
saying.

Comments are more likely to be approved if they are clean, articulate and if
the person leaves a name and city.

Thanks for your participation, and for your interest in the issues.""

I do appreciate that the editor replied to me. I don't think that I've ever had a reply from the editor, before.
