THE PRESIDENT: Today America lost a great citizen. We mourn the passing of Bob Hope. Bob Hope made us laugh, and he lifted our spirits. Bob Hope served our nation when he went to battlefields to entertain thousands of troops from different generations. We extend our prayers to his family. And we mourn the loss of a good man. May God bless his soul.
Thank you all.

Thanks for posting President Bush's comments about Mr. Hope.
Pings for the rest of ya.

Odd, this message does not contain the word "I". If Bill Clinton had made this announcement, I'm pretty sure it would be, "I remember seeing Bob Hope. I remember meeting Bob Hope. I remember this one joke, let me tell it to you!"
President George W. Bush helps us all rememeber what class is like. God Bless Bob Hope. God Bless the President.

Good-bye to the last Hollywood Patriot.
To: ClearCase_guy
An interesting observation. However, I don't want to think about Bill Clinton today.

Most Iraqi's, according to CNN, don't believe that Hope died.

It probably would have been along the lines of..."I remember watching his movies as a poor black child, movies which would inspire me to become the greatest man in the world...".

To Bob Hope:
So long, Bob
You never knew me
But I knew you
And yet, somehow
You did know me
Otherwise, how could you have known
How to make me smile
To make me laugh
Over and over again
My whole life
You represented me
By caring about our American boys overseas
And putting feet to your caring
Not everyone gets the honor
Of putting on a uniform
Of putting their life
Out on the firing line
But you represent all of us who can't
But who find some way to show
What it is to be a patriot
Uniform or not
If you aren't in heaven, buddy
I'm not sure I want to go there

Thanks for posting this, and for the ping, homeschool.
I have always been so proud that Bob Hope came from (after 4 brief years in England), the great state of Ohio.
What a wonderful, selfless man. There are thousands upon thousands of troops for whom he gave HOPE in time of war.
He will be missed.

Earlier today I went to DU to get their take on Bob Hope's passing
They had a thread bashing him because of his politics. It is those threads that reinforce my belief that we have an uphill battle against idiots in our community who hate this country and aren't even aware of it.
Bob Hope was a true American in every sense on the word. He has gone on to a wonderful reward.

I have a hippy, liberal, pot-smoking Uncle who is as you described. He informed me the other day that America was founded on greed and that Americans have committed many atrocities around the world. He went on to say that that Americans are greedy and that the current poor economy is George Bush's fault.
I stared at him in disbelief, not because I'm a member of the military, but because his father was a WWII hero...

If anyone needs any evidence that the left is dominated by hate (along with rampant stupidity) they need only spend about 5 minutes at DU.
I go there regularily to reinforce my belief that there is a war going on in our country against a group of people who are intent on destroying America.
They believe we are in the midst of a "quagmire" and seem to salivate at each troop death saying that it illustrates their belief.
I wonder if there were people who thought that way during WWII?
The Internet gives a forum to people who practice their free speech by praising any country that would forbid it up to and including death.

Earlier today I went to DU to get their take on Bob Hope's passing They had a thread bashing him because of his politics They are a sad and sick bunch .. they just hate everything that is good
Bob Hope was a good man who never turned his back on our country or our troops
God Bless you Mr. Hope .. I know you are in a better place, but we will miss you
Thank you for all the memories
