Johnny Depp

However, Johnny loves “France and [to] be living in a tiny village with nothing around. There is still the possibility to live a simple life. You can go to the market, walk about, buy fruits and vegetables -- the things they did 100 and 200 years ago. We have moments when we're sitting in our house and our kids are playing, and we look at one another and think, 'Thank God we escaped.’”

For Johnny, buying a cucumber or a cabbage from a market is primitive living and living and being in America is a place and state of being, to “escape” from. Just the same, Johnny wants us all to pay U.S. dollars to see him in the movies so he can continue to badmouth the country that allowed him to become an “artiste.”

If anyone dare criticize that pompous little twerp for badmouthing America, it is an “infringement” on his first amendment rights.

It is wonderful to enjoy the fruits of primative living when you have a large pool of money from the modern world to draw off of. Somehow, I think Johnny would be less pleased if he had to spend his day growing those vegitables under primative conditions and then living off of the proceeds. "Look at the poor backward primatives! Aren't they so precious?" Right.

Johnny Depp has been added to our boycott list. He is #108 on a long and detailed list of celebs that do not deserve our hard-earned money.

THe article says this:

Like Susan Sarandon, the Dixie Chicks and countless other celebrities before him, Johnny Depp has taken what was given to him by America and her people, and stepped all over it.

BUt is that true? It seems to me he hasn't been "given" success. He has earned it in a free market. He offers something up for sale, we buy it. Or not. He also has done what Baldwin et al only blather about. He has gone someplace else where he is happy. The closest thing to an offensive remark quoted in the article is where he says the war is "about money." He's wrong, and that statement is trite, but it isn't anything like what the Blixie Chicks said.

Johnny Depp has a distorted world view. But he doesn't offend me. I enjoy many of his films and will continue to do so.

So add me to your boycott list.

Sorry, can not join you. Depp is a fine actor, too bad you now throw aside all simply because he has chosen to live in france with his family in a place of solitude that he could not get in this country due to maniacal fans or simply because that is where he wishes to be.
Sure, france has emitted a lot of unsavory comment of late and needs to be chastizied.
But this is a simple individual you are now speaking of, not a whole country.
Talent is talent,
I love my country,
I would die for my country,
But to condemn Depp for moving to france and enjoying his life and fortune? Easy to find fault, easy to be hard.
Ah, how shallow you truly are.

A Johnny Depp move to France would increase the average I.Q. of both countries at the same time. Sounds like a win win situation to me.

This is the moron you idolize?

Birth name John Christopher Depp II -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Nickname "Mr. Stench" Self-chosen -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Height 5' 10" -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mini biography Johnny Depp's parents divorced when he was 15. "I don't even have a mental picture of the houses we lived in because there were so many," he told Cosmopolitan. "I was bored with high school, so I dropped out," he told the Los Angeles Times. "Puberty was very vague. I literally locked myself in a room and played guitar," he related to Cosmopolitan. He fell so much under the spell of Edward Scissorhands (1990) co-star Winona Ryder that they were engaged from 1990 to 1993. In 1994, he trashed a $1,200-a-night hotel room in New York City and was arrested on a criminal mischief charge. "I know that I have demons," he told Vanity Fair. "He's the kind of guy that would be really sweet to a girl and bring her flowers," says actress and buddy Traci Lords, "but still take a pee in the alley." According to People Magazine, Johnny regularly cuts his own arms to mark important events in his life. "I'm sounding like John Denver or something," he told Vanity Fair, "but I look forward to having a kind of peace of mind. I know that we all get there eventually."

Johnny's been making too many movies about the past.

He should go and live in France, if he likes it so much. I wouldn't mind a bit.

France is a great place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there.

I don't grow vegatables either.

I see nothing unpatriotic about living in France and growing vegatables.

Even more:

Johnny's two children with Paradis, have the same names of the 2 main characters in "Legend" (1985) - Lily (b. 1999) and Jack (b.2002). His wife, Vanessa Paradis, is a popular singer/songwriter in her native country, France; as well as an aspiring actress.

This guy is clearly a looney-tune.

Why does naming his kids after script characters make him a looney-tune? Why does living in his wife's native country make him a looney-tune? Your post makes no sense at all.

Depp is not married to the woman he is with and he is also the father of her two children. We should have sorry feelings for them because being raised by such a -(is free soul the word??)will weigh heavy on them. The hope will be that he stays there and earns more money over there. I for one have had enough of the Blame America First crowd and however talented they may or may not be. We have lots left in the barn here to choose from...and maybe one or two of them might realize just what America is all about.

Is there anything in that article that YOU would not do....given the same sets and circumstance?
Like I say.......easy to be hard.....easy to judge.
Easy to lose yourself in your little world.

Oh gosh, come on now, are we all so innocent? Have you done nothing to be ashamed of and tried to hid it?
Be it so, Mr. Depp has chosen not to hid his past or feelings.
Guess that puts him one up on most of us.

this guy is drunk and/or stoned through out the whole Pirates movie....I was appalled that Disney let him on screen....

having "some exposure" to such things, I can guarentee you he was lit during the whole movie.....

I guess his time with Hunter wasn't a complete loss......

I would not do:

Johnny prefers to “live a simple life” in France. According to the article, the simple life for Johnny is one in which he can “live as he pleases in a French farmhouse near swanky St. Tropez and choose which roles he wants to play.” Johnny also likes to go out and buy “$18,000 bottles of wine in restaurants, and pals around with Rolling Stones bad boys Keith Richards and Ron Wood.”

I would not say:

Johnny explains, “That was so revealing, that grown men sat around and came up with that idea,” talking about freedom fries. “It was tragic and embarrassing. At the same time, I was happy it was exposed, and people knew that a bunch of congressmen -- big people, the upper-drawer people -- made that decision.” Johnny seems to really like France and is very protective.

Frankly, I would do nothing at all what he does. He is a childish and immature man who play-acts on screen as well as in real life. He is an actor. That makes him very unimportant in my estimation.

See, thats the quandry here.
Mr. Depp does not choose to tell us how to live.
But yet, many try to say how he should live and where to live.
Is that proper?
Is this still America, and can we still do as we please within reason so long as we harm no other and pay our just due?
So easy to condemn you are, simply because a American citizen tries to find a better life for his family.
It not be the place or the doing...........it is simply how are we all doing, and what the individual feels is right.
Take that away and you have much to lament.
Quit putting up bars in your every thoughts and actions.
Live free, be free, and shall only you be accountable for your actions.

he could do the same thing if he lived in Oklahoma.

Would you BE QUIET!! You wanna give him the idea???

LOL

Seriesly though, I was thinking the same thing and I think it's probably why Garth Brooks lives here. The locals here all seem to be pretty down to earth and friendly.

Of course, that's not what Depp finds admirable I guess.
